Alright so first time filling up gas this was odd and was hoping someone knows the answer. I Turn my car off (press button) the guy puts the gas thing in. After like 20 secs later I turn back to look how much it cost and it was like slow motion the numbers were moving like .04 gallons a second.I leaned forward and all of the sudden it pumped normally (moving 5x faster ). so I decided to lean back then all of the sudden it went back to slow mo... I leaned forward again it pumped fast. I leaned forward and back just to test that I'm not going crazy lol. Let me know what you guys think is wrong or am I doing something wrong. So far car only got 307 miles on it and I still had a quarter tank left. I need to test this again next time i fill up.

So the way that you're leaning in your seat... affects the way the pump, pumps gas?

Maybe the pump is just messed up?

wait... this was full service since you are in NJ... was the attendant standing next to the pump during these "episodes"?

Isn't it the law that they have to be there?

My guess...when you were first looking at it...you were seeing 0.0X increases, then lean forward and you saw 0.0XX increase...so it looked like it was going x10 as fast. Just a guess...

Nothing in the front of the car would affect this...the gas is stored near the rear of the car (and that is why the hole is in the rear). And the gas would come out of the pump, into the side of the car and basically straight down to the tank.

It might be a case of "DAMN, thats some good 'stuff' "

Yes, when I lived in Dirty Jersey I began pumping my own gas and was promptly swamped by the attendant, sir that's illegal...

But I like the 0.0XX theory, or the attendant was f'n with ya

They can start it pumping then walk away from it... when they have their hand on the pump it goes faster though.

I have pumped my own gas in NJ before, no one has given me a hard time about it.

The guy puts it in and walked away but it got me a little concerned I've been going to the same gas station for 3 years now so I don't think he would mess up. I'll let u guys know what happens next time I fill.

Always get out of your vehicle, stick your credit card in the pump and watch closely while they pump your gas. Some will allow you to do it especially when they are busy. Put the gas cap on securely yourself, take your receipt & go

Went to Italy on business 2 months back and when I was filling our rental car I got out and this short Italian came up to the car and started saying something, I motioned to him "One Second" so I could start filling and he moved around me and boxed me out from the pump. I then put the two and two together and realized Italy is not Self-Serve, haha. It was the first time ever someone has pumped gas for me while I was the driver. I remember going to a full service when I was 10-11 once...it was really weird, just the thought of it!
