In a recent VERY cold stint here in the rocky mountains something broke in the mechanism to the rear passenger window. I was driving on the freeway and accidentally bumped the window switch on the center panel. I assume the window was frozen shut. There was kindof a pop and the window slid down until it bound slighly and stopped.I have not pulled off the interior door panel yet, but did successfully remove and replace the front driver's door panel this morning to (finally, don't know why I waited so long) replace the speaker with a bad amp.I'm not too worried about getting off the rear panel, found great instructions in a recent post and it all seems much easier now that I know the "sliding armrest" secret. Any Ideas as to what I might be in for when I get to the window mechanism?TIABill J.

Your window regulator has probably broken, I think (probably not the motor). This was a common problem in the first-gen Q45 ... I lost all four over time.

Two were replaced under warranty, and two were paid for by Infiniti Corporate because I considered it a design flaw and insisted on it! Might be a bit late to be considered a warranty change in your case (which year Q45 do you have?)

The part is relatively inexpensive and if you can take the side panels off, then you should be able to see the part that has broken and get it replaced.

Z,Thanks for the info. It's a 92 w/93k miles. The motor still seems to run both directions with the switch, so your diagnosis sounds right. Any suggestions for a good parts source or am I stuck w/my local dealership parts counter?

On mine, the cable broke free of the little plastic piece that was attached to the bottom of the window. There is a little box shaped piece of metal molded into the cable that goes up and down in the regulator. All you have to do is take some strong light gauge solid wire and wrap it around that little box shaped thing and then use the wire to attach it to the plastic piece at the bottom middle of the window. Could be something else, but that's what it was on mine.
