i was taking the engine the rest of the way down today and found something that shouidnt be in there.it was a retainer from a valve.dont know how it could have got there either.i havent took the head apart yet but going to tonight.everything else look good.just normall wear on the parts.pistons came out easy going to take every thing to the machine shop monday.

looks like more i get into the motor the more i have to replace but i want it done right so more parts to order.at least when i get done evrything will be new.

A retainer or a keeper? I couldn't imagine a retainer getting in there... they are the size of a nickel.

man, if i found that in my engine i think i would cry. seriously though.... i know the ca18det head and i havnt the slightest clue where it would have had enough room to make it to the oil pan. someone must have wailed on that engine. good thing you didnt just throw it in and start it!

I had a spring retainer break on one of my engines. Luckily the bucket trapped all the pieces from going in the oil pan. I don't think that there is even an oil passage big enough for the retainer to make it to the oil pan.

it was the half moon shape lock.but it was not from my engine.but it was in my oil pan.i do not think that the engine has been took apart before so i guess it was droped in there from the factory when they built the motor.

on another hand i finally got that damn cog of the crank today.but i want be using it again.and i also messup and broke the oil pump.so i guess i will be getting a new one.this motor will be all new almost when im done.

tim didnt you rebuild your ca?if so i need to talk to you about it.my yahoo and aim is capwred
