So I pick up the new SS (the one thats azz backwards) and see this add for compression restoration http://www.restoreusa.com/restorer.html Has anyone ever used this and if so what perfomance increases did you see? I'm thinking of doing it in my RB25 seen is how they say its approved for turbo apps. I am going to break in my motor for 500 miles then change the oil and add this. Just wanted to get some good info before I put a forein liquid in my motor.

They sell that crap at Wal-Mart. I wouldn't count on any performance gains just from dumping that stuff in. I used it once on another car that I had, didn't seem to do anything. It probably just makes your oil really thick so that you get better compressions. Prolly a bad idea for your RB.

i would not put ANYTHING AT ALL EXCEPT OIL into my engine, additives may gum up and destroy your engine. the compression restorer is only for very old engines and i still would never use it.

im not saying don't do it just know you increase the potential of seriously damaging or destroying a good engine. a liquid really can't fix a problem for a while. you'd be beter off with new rings and maby boring out the walls. just be carefull with anything you pour in your oil and know that durring hard driving, you may starve the engine of oil or the heat may make it gum up starving the engine of oil and you may end up with spun rod berrings, ect. you cant always believe the manufacturer.

Oh. I don't have bad compression. I was just going to to help break it in.

don't add anything to break it in...the break in process is supposed to wear on parts...thats how things get seated. also alot of people recomend breaking in with conventional oil as opposep to synthetic.as the synthetic is too slippery.

I've used the stuff, didn't notice much of a difference. I'd still be worried about it gumming up the turbo. Besides, I doubt your RB has enough miles on it to need it.

what it says and what it is are very likely 2 very different things. they are trying to sell a product, you are trying to keep your engine running. they are 2 different goals, and when you break in an engine, use straight 30W NON-SYNTHETIC oil for like 200-500 miles, then switch to whatever oil and filter you like.

I have a 93 that had poor compression in cly 3. Added the restore and waited 1000 miles. I then rechecked and guess what the results where. Cly 3 still had Sh*ty compression.I figured it was worth a shot.

it worked ok in my KA but my KA also had 160k at the time I tried it. If you're looking for something to break in your engine, use a slightly heavier natural oil. The synthetics don't grab at the gunk that's built up inside your engine as well as the naturals from what I've been told since that's part of the purpose of the break in period too.

I'm not going to use it to break it in. After I break it in. I just wanted to see what people thouight of it.

that's just a can of wasted money. i used that in my probe nad it didn't do jack. same compression. not worth it. i'd rather put in a heaver oil.

That product is proven to give you 500whp.

If I had an RB. I'd be DAMNED if I put anything in the motor except for OIL!

The three sizes this stuff comes in and is sold all over the US is pure market hogwash. I have never used the stuff, but I did put "Slick 50" in a 1989 Dodge Spirit with a MoPar 2.5 that IMMEDIATELY began using oil (quart every 1000 miles)... Dumped that stuff and began (this was the begininng of my use of synthetic) Valvoline synthetic (10W30) and ended oil consumption. I was living in San Antonio at the time, warm nearly year round, really found out about need for synthetic in 1993 when I was transfered here, to the frozen tundra. Switched to 5W30, and use syn fluids in nearly EVERYTHING (even the 20 year old motorcycle). From laboratory tests, and I immediately cannot recall the source-although I did post on Yahoo Infinitiownersclub, as I recall the Valvoline has about 10 degrees higher vapor point than equivalent Mobil1. I have several vehicles (1999 Infiniti I30, 1998 Nissan Sentra, 1997 Ford Contour, 1992 Ford Ranger SC 4.0, 1991 Honda Civic, 1991 Mazda Protege LX, 1989 Ford Thunderbird, (2) 1983 Honda CB1000C cycles) and the only ones NOT on a synthetic diet are the Contour (real POS) and Mazda (kid car). My I30 gets Valvoline Synthetic oil, the Sentra, Ranger and Honda get Durablend, T-Bird has been on Castrol since 1991. Oil related failures just do not occur here...and fuel mileage is improved on ALL of them.

oil additives are a bad idea. they just run the risk of ruining an engine. i will NEVER use any additive.
