what about those wheel boots?
Wheel boots? lol did you ever see that thread on Civic forums where the guy got his car booted at his college campus for unpaid parking tickets? Yea well he had the last laugh when the car was gone and the boot was left there. FUNNIEST THING EVER!!! But they are still bypassable if someone really wants the car, just tow it.

Something that really works is air bags or hydraulics, when you can frame drop the car, It is next to impossible to tow without making a hell of a lot of noise, and if you take the switch box with you, unless they take the time to wire it back up risking hooking it up wrong and short something out, then the car is going NOWHERE!!!

LoJack uses a GPS signal, and guess where GPS does not work . . . tunnels, underground garages, etc. That is the easiest thing to bypass. It is really really tough to make a car completely safe!
My dad used a lo-tech method to keep my brother from stealing his truck when my bro was a teenager. He'd take the ignition coil out of the truck every night... lol

(Of course, that doesn't stop someone from towing off a car, but it was funny)

Uhh... Clipsed? LoJack does not use GPS. They use ground based radio waves. When the LoJack unit is activated, it broadcasts an RF signal that is picked up by receivers built into patrol cars.

And towing a frame dropped car isn't that difficult either if you have a flatbed. Chances are that they don't care to much about the front and rear bumpers and just drag it up. I've done it a couple of times (completely legal of course, you wouldn't beleive how many people can put expeditions on bags but can't manage to make their payment).

how do you get out from boots? it covers the lug nuts so I don't see how to get around it unless you want to remove the entire knuckle and put on another one

as far as lojack goes, don't they give you a smart key like thing where when the car is in motion without the key, they will notify the police right away?

Regarding removing the coil to prevent your kid from driving your car; My grandfather tried the same thing when my dad was a teenager... he would remove the distributor cap and rotor. This didn't work, as my father had his own distributor cap and rotor, and a set of wires "just in case."

That's why he took the coil. It was a more expensive part (especially since it was a proprietary MOPAR POS), and my brother was too broke to buy one.

My solution was much simpler.

I spent $75 and bought a Subaru.

Nowadays, you'd be better off taking the ECU.
