I just got a 240 and theres way to much fuel being dumped from the injectors but theyve been tested and are all fine. I tested the pressure regulator and it read 43psi going in and 61psi coming out. Im not sure if thats normal. If it is, what else could it be? Theres also fuel coming out of the muffler and the gas tank drains 2 gallons almost immediatly. It smokes really bad and the engine is rocking so bad its hard to hold on to the sterring wheel. I'm sure most of this is a problem w/ the fuel system but would all of it be caused by it?

I was just wondering if it was a computer or anything like that cuz it I wasnt sure if the pressure was right or not

hook up your fuel pressure gauge from the top of the gas filter to the metal fuel rail

when idling, the gauge should read around 33psi w/ vacuum hose still attached to FPG

disconnect that small vacuum hose from the fuel pressure regulator

see the gauge go up to ~43 psi

another way to check is w/ a vacuum pump (u prob can rent this tool for free @ autozone)

disconnect the vacuum hose from the intake manifold & cap the intake manifold

start engine

as vacuum increases, the fuel pressure should decrease

from my FSM, page EF & EC-154

if that check out ok, then do a trouble code reading; 1 cause is it may also be a bad temp sensor/circuit that's telling your pc to run open loop until car is warmed up...

The fuel is being pumped into the fuel rail w/ way too much pressure.Nothing is coming from the injectors until I turn the key to on, then it bursts through every injector. I dont know if thatll help w/ diagnosis but it seems like it shouldnt be doing that.

where are you putting your fuel gauge? It should be were rice bike said for fuel pressure checks. If thats were your putting it and your getting those type of readings your pump is putting out way to much pressure. Or you have a restriction in your return line to check for that follow your return line from the engine to the tank see if there are any kinks in the line.

the 61psi reading is directly connected to the FPR, so it doesnt seem like itd have anything to do w/ the return line, right?

so your saying your testing the fuel pressure with the return line disconnected altogether? If so you cant do that. The unused fuel [the fuel that goes past the regulator unused]needs to relieve to the tank if it doesnt it will increase the fuel pressure in the system cuaseing exactly what your saying. Your fuel system needs to be in a continuous loop all the time even when the fuel gauge is on it. The fuel gauge needs to be teed in to the line between the fuel filter and the rail to get accurate readings.

it was t'd in between the filter and the rail, and the readings were 43psi there, and then they were t'd between the FPR and the line and it was 61psi. Is that what im supposed to be doing?

the first part yes but the part between the reg and the line no. but if your reading beyond the regulator in the line going to the tank is 61psi something is restricting that line between the tank and your gauge that side should have nearly no real fuel pressure. The regulator is what controls the fuel pressure in the system from the pump,It is the restriction between the fuel pump and the return line going back to the tank. It "regulates" pressure.
