Hi, I live in Overland Park and I just got some headers for my 350Z and I would like to know if anyone would be willing to help me install them?

I don't have the right tools or experience to install them and the prices i've been quoted from around Kansas City have been from 400 dollars to 700+

I would be willing to attempt installing them myself if I had someone there to help, I would even buy all the tools that I need to install them with.

So if anyone out there is willing to help me out, and or has a lift that would be excellent!

Attached is a comparison of stock headers to new headers.

Did it come w/ everything like the gaskets? What brand is it? Have you heard of any fitment issues from anyone else that has installed the product or any issues after installing the product? Do you the torque specs?

If I help do I get to drive it after the installation..... aaron if you read this what do you think? Might just be worth my time if I can have a go w/ it.

Everyone that has installed them has said there aren't any fitment issues. The brand is Top Speed they're basically a copy of the DC Sport headers. I was told to use the same gaskets that are already on the stock headers as the ones that came with them aren't any good to use. I also have to pick up some bolts to connect the end tube of the headers to the cats because the oem have bolts built in.

I can lookup torque specs but the people that sold them to me have said there isn't enough room to torque them to spec (but that doesn't make any sense to me). I also want to throw on some hi-flow cats and possible do some new pulleys. I wouldn't mind letting you drive it either, as long as you don't beat the piss out of it.

I would at least buy new ones from nissan then..... Can you source the FSM or anyone else's walk through with any header on the 350z? I am sure there is a pattern for removing and reinstalling the the nuts that connect the header to the head.

Have you checked out freshalloy yet? Might want to check w/ the 350z owners there and get there opinion on not torquing down the bolts, that sounds a little off.

BTW im in olathe...

Here is a pretty good walkthrough of how to install headers and high flow cats: http://www.zchickz.com/header1.htm and I've got a doc file that i will try and attach as well.

Another good website on how to install Nismo headershttp://www.350zforum.com/tech/....aspx (this one btw looks freaking complicated!!!)

And the attachment is how to install the Crawford Headers.

I was told from someone that has installed 2 sets of these headers on the Z that "if you use a extension then the torque numbers will be off" cause an extension was the only way to torque the bolts on the headers, he just said to make sure they're tight.

jesse yeah I read this, personally I wouldn't touch a Z33 with a 20ft pole. Also getting the factory torque specs isn't that hard to do all you have to do is call nissan. You NEED to use new gaskets with the new manifold and I would check your source because they can't be a copy of DC headers. DC is the mainly for honda's. Shop time for the install is probly around 5-8 hours if not more and thats assuming that you have all the proper equipment in case something breaks...like exhaust studs. Yes, you can't use an extension because that will drastically change the torque specs that you're layin down. There is always enough room to torque things down and if anyone else says otherwise then they're not worth your time. The factory uses torque specs for a reason...its not a suggestion. Anyways enough of my ranting, point being Kool, best of luck to you and welcome to the board. I hope that you get these in without too much trouble. Jesse, yeah you might want to have a go with it but the engine bay is worse than a Z32 (thats my opinion.

If you two decide to go ahead and do it then I'll be around in case you need something but you do need to get new gaskets and 1-4 spare exhaust studs. You also DO need to torque everything back down to factory specs and in order. Don't have too much fun and I'll talk to you peeps later!

If you don't believe that DC Sports makes headers for the 350Z then you should take a look here:

http://www.z1auto.com/prodmore...d=874a ... ..965cdand here:http://www.turbomagazine.com/tech/0409tur_zheader/

here is a link to the header install from the service manaul:http://koolzero.bounceme.net/manual/Em.pdf

And about the torque specs I've got the 350Z shop manual so torque specs aren't an issue. I'm just going on by what i was told as far as not torquing it down to spec.

Attached is a screen shot from the service manual.

WHOA there hoss, you don't need to get all upset at what I said. I said that DC MAINLY produces headers for hondas and that you might want to double check your sources. There isn't a need for you to get that upset. My friend asked my opinion and I gave it. If you don't like it then thats not my problem. Like I said welcome to the forum and it might be wise to act a little nicer and to not get so offended.

oh and one more thing, DC said that they just released them....forgive me I was wrong I can admit it. I just don't pay attention to people that manufacture honda parts.....

Theres a shop off noland road that can do the install in no time. They'd charge maybe $150. I'd like to get my parts (stacked in a corner) on my car. Guess i'm unloved or unwanted. You'll need to spray down the bolts a week before hand and you might need a propane torch if the bolts don't come undone. A car that new, it should come off easy.

Sideshowbob, what's the name of this shop that you speak of? If any shop would install these for only 150 that would be amazing!

Edit: Are you talking about Parallax Motorsports? I'll definitely give them a call.

Edit Edit: called the number on parallax website says the number is disconnected. Maybe they're out of bizness.

If you can find a shop to do it that cheap then do that since they should have a lift which will save time.

If not then let me know by next wednesday and I will try to make time that sunday. This weekend I just have to much going on.

Im downloading the FSM off carfiche as we speak so I will get back to you if I see something im not comfortable with.

Do you have a pic of your engine bay? My neighbor has a base model 350z so I will see if I can see under his hood as well.

If need be it can wait until after the holidays so no rush just whenever would be the best for you. i can also post some pics of the engine bay. Whoa carfiche is a cool site i've never heard of it before!

Yea, thats the shop. I was up there a few months ago and talked to the guy for a few hours. He has a bunch of z32 engine stuff that sirus left up there. He was saying that he's had a few 240sx up there since he bought it from sirus. And yea, he is hard to get in touch with. But, he charges $30 an hour. His friends and customers that know what there doing, help with labor! He was saying to me that you can rent his lift for $45 a day. If you help with his stuff, he'll let you borrow it for free. Best time to borrow it might be on a sunday, when its closed. If the header is a direct bolt on and the car so new, you should be able to do it with ease. My hotshot header is another story. 1 year and its still not on. Save your self 150 and do it yourself!!

Should be here before christmas. Jessee when would be a good time to try and do this? It looks like right now that the next weekend that I will have available will be January 8th - 9th.

I will also have a Seibon Carbon fiber hood and Nismo power steering oil cooler kit also to install at that time. I know this is probably too much to get done in one weekend and that's okay with me we can do it over a period of weeks if need be.
