aww man that sucks! Cell phone drivers are THE WORST. 3100 is a good chunk of money though! You're mom is really into 240s huh, lol. I'll keep an eye out for another vert for you guys. Did you post in the vert forums?

Here's what I'd do... in this order:
-Let the insurance company total it out
-take the money,
-buy it right back with a salvage title for $300 or whatever
-slap on overfenders.
-start looking for yet another 240!

Getting totalled out over minor stuff is like the best thing to happen to most 240 owners. It's like free cash... lol

ive never really understood this. so if someone hit my front end, and the bumper, hood, fender, and headlight assembly needed to be replaced technically it would cost more than blue book value. so they take my car (to where?) with all my goodies and i can buy it back for oober cheap? i dont get how does a damage qp total a vert? that wouldnt cost 3 grand to repair.

but what if it really was totaled. like the frame was bent, and all my aftermarket fenders were destroyed. then they still only give you 3 grand because thats blue book value. but you would majorly loose out because of the aftermarket body kit you bought

It would cost more than 3 grand to do it right, which is to do it not the cheap a** 240sx owner way.

The insurance companies don't give you Blue Book value for your car. They give you the fair market value in your area. Which could be higher or lower than Blue Book value.

The flipside of buying back a car that's been totalled out by the insurance companies is that car will never have a clean title again. It'll have a salvage title, which drastically drops its resale value.

Most ppl don't want to buy a car with a salvage title, but 240 owners aren't most ppl. They'll buy anything. There are 240's with clear titles that look like they need to have salvage titles and be scrapped.

Yeah my 240sx got 'totaled' by a senior citizen last year, I got $2800 bought back for $150. BUT the guy said my car was so old (92) that he wouldn't even make me send in the titlte and have it converted to salvage, so i still have a clean title for my 'totalled' car. (it has headlight/corner panel/bumper damage)

Well today its been decided that they want to keep the vert, get a new rear right quarter and get all the necessary body work done to make it look good again. I think its retarded but my mom is really attached to her vert. The estimate to get everything repaired and looking new again, with a new respray (which again, is what my mom wants so shes going to get it) $5400 dollars. I personally think its rediculous to put that much into her car. Regardless I'll get some before n after pics for all yall concerned eh? :naughty:

Ouch, repairs are 125% or so of the cars value. But glad she is saving it.

Get some before and after pics. Would help to document that process, especially if ever selling it they would want to know about the salvage title.

Plain and simple, dumb idea. I wouldn't even pay $5,400 for a perfect vert let alone to fix it. F*** for the money she is paying I'll deliver you a stock auto kouki ;)

wow that is a ton of money to spend when, as said, you could buy a new vert and a half with that haha.

man.... at least you got to see who hit your mom's car.

some douchebag hit my rear QP while I was at the bar. I came back out to the parking lot to find a huge dent in my rear QP... whoever hit it left with the quickness :tisk:

this wasn't too long ago either... happened on game 5 of the Laker finals
