okay, here is the spill. when i bought my vert, the guy told me the injectors were bigger because the car use to be turboed. so the car flooded itself out. being no mechanic, i shrugged it off as a summer fix. the car; how ever, shows no signs of ever being boosted, and the "flooding out" is a mis-fire. the strangest thing, is it will mis fire ONLY on the 3rd cylinder. ive replaced the dizzy, rotar button, plug wires, and slapped in 4 brand new copper ngk's. the problem was fixed everytime i replaced on of these items, but only for a short amount of time. :wtf2: it will run fine for a little bit, then instantly loose power and sound like its drowning. then if i get into it, it clears. but after its ran for a while, it misses constantly. :bs: this has come to the point were its annoying. what do i need to do? parts i need? the motor is a ka24de. i really need this fixed guys, and this is the first place ive come to for advice. thanks in advance.

I would check to see if your o rings are still good. Perhaps the injector itself is going bad

O rings, O rings, O rings. I had the same problem recently and replaced a bad injector. The car ran fine for a bit then experienced the same behavior you mentioned. I pulled the injector and found that I had nicked the O ring during installation. I replaced the O ring only to have the same thing happen again. The last time I was meticulous and used WD40 on the O ring and slipped the injector back in ever so gently. Runs like a champ now without further incident. Good luck!!

so i should pull the injectors and replace the o-rings? or just the third cylinder? i have reason to the believe that all the injectors are oem, if not stock, and are functioning properly. so im not really concerned about the injector itself. about how difficult, and long dose it take to replace the o rings? i really want this fixed, because when my car runs right, its one of the stoutest N/A ka's ive ever been in. :chuckle:

Sounds like o-rings to me as well. It's not easy to take out injectors. I had to destroy mine to take out. They were bad anyway, so I didn't care much. Just make sure you are not going to nick the inside of fuel rail. There are two small holes on the side of injector, so you can use needle nose pliers. I can't find a pic, but something like this but tips are bent inward. Does that make sense?

cmkelly, you should have put the aluminum cap back on, put two screws on the side and turned them little by little. That way the cap will push the injector down evenly. Yes, I lubed the o-rings with small amount of WD-40. There's a small rubber insulator under the cap and don't lose that one. I also learned that it's good to buy a couple of extra o-rings. That way you don't have to make another trip to dealership if you damage one.

Thank you!!!
O-ring is a couple of dollars from dealership, so don't take chances with any aftermarket parts.

I did put the aluminum cap back on and and thought I screwed them down evenly but must not have. My local autoparts store only had one O-ring set so I had to go the OEM route the next time. I managed to find some that were a little thicker which worked great.

I've heard that he injectors start to go around 120,000 miles and that seems tot be the case for me. I've only had to replace one but know the others will need to be replaced soon. But with the car in NC and me in CO they might last forever.

When you put the injectors back on, make sure you soak the o-rings with wd-40 and put them in slowly and make sure its going in straight
