i have a 93 240sx hatch se. The other day i drove across town and turned my car off. I got back into my car with in 3 min. I noticed that my gage lights were still on, so was my radio and my windows worked(power). I put the key in the ignition and it turned like normal but nothing happened, it wouldnt start. Then i tried to turn the car off. it turned like normal but wouldnt shut off. i could take the key out and it seems to be broke in auxilary mode. I asked the local parts store and they told me that it sounds like my ignition switch is bad. i replaced it and it still doesnt start. it does sound a little better though. I do have a crappy alarm that has been causing me problems and i spliced that back into my new wires and i got it to start once but when i shut it off i couldnt get it to work again. Some said the starter is bad but i think it is the stupid A** alarm. HELP PLEASE!

Take out alarm fix hacked up wires. If it is a standard trans check clutch relay

little bit of a long shot, but if you absolutely positively can't find anything wrong...check this (I had this on a redtop ecu) pop the cover off the ecu and look for burned solder runs. Specifically, look for the pin for "ign on" and make sure its run isn't burned anywhere. Im thinkin maybe the guy who hooked up the alarm, hooked up the "key power" to the ecu pin out. This is like a few mA output only, the alarm draws too much current, cooks the board and diode.

THe diode keeps the current from running backwards through the ecu so the car shuts off when you take the key out.

Good luck!

k i fixed it. it was my ignition switch and my alarm was not letting my car start with the new one so i had to rewire my whole ignition system. it sucked but it works now!
