or at least trying to drift, they are pretty small (like 6 megs or so)

this was my first time to try and drift ever. and everything on my car was stock (no LSD, no strut or sway bars, no coilovers, no engine mods)

i am now officially addicted and plan on going to more events as time and money allows.

congrats on the new hobbie........here are two words of wisdom

1. buy a vlsd before anything else, you'll thank yourself later

2. start learning to countersteer quicker in the slide, that way don't keep oversteering ;)

Goodluck and be safe.

thanks for the words of encouragement and advice.

VLSD and wheels and tires and suspension are on my list of mods to do first (prolly in that order) i actually got better, those were taken pretty early in the day. i didn't get too many runs in, the course we were on ate tires fast.

I would keep those wheels you have now and just look for used tires anywhere and everywhere. I go through tires (drift tires) every 2 weeks when I am activley drifting.

I love your car, its very clean! Goodluck and happy drifting.

yeah, i want a new set of wheels and tires so that i can keep my stock ones back and just keep them loaded with used tires, it woudl make it alot easier to swap out.

thanks for the compliements, i just got the car about a month ago after my eclipse was totaled (thank god it wasn't my fault)

learn how to initiate a drift. either clutchkick or ebrake are two easy ways.

all you're doing right now is powering over which = not drifting

clutch kick is fun, it's all I can really do to get one going.

Power over is no problem though:D mmm torque!

yeah, towards the end of the day (when i actually had some people giving me advice) i started to get the hang of it better, those were some of my crappier runs, but that is all i have on tape. i was clutchkicking towards the end (isnt' that where you kinda stab the clutch and crank the wheel under throttle to break traction and slide the *** out)

still, not bad for my first time out on stock everthing i don't think.

clutch kick:

approach turn on the outside of the straightin one fluid motion, turn in SLIGHTLY, and stab the clutchincrease throttle slightly if necessary to help bring back aroundcountersteer and modulate throttlethrow hands out windows in some desperate attempt at attracting more attention and to wave at the fly honiez.

the more you practice the more it becomes less of a stab and more of a slip. i don't stab the clutch, i slip it and it works great.

Dude, I figured out what clutch kick meant before I even read your post! I feel fast...

dammit, my car's FWD...

Anyway, I gotta agree. That next to last drift was pretty nice, but most of the others :owned by the peg-leg... get a parrot and put it on your driver's side mirror til you get LSD (ha, ha.. I'm funny... so so funny.. ha ha... peg leg... parrot... ha ha....................... okay, that joke was stolen from 240kid, blame him)...

Anyway, LSD, suspension, dirt cheap tires.

How much do used tires go for anyway?

edit: My car is FWD, but it has an absolutely fun habit of all 4 wheels slipping on a 2nd gear rolling WOT wheel-locked turn... hmmmmmmmmmmmm... oh, and I have VLSD, stock, nannee nannee boo boo!

Aight, come down to the dirty GA and we'll see how much RWD will matter when you're driving against one of SCC's 8 Great Rides of 2001 (company included the ITR, WRX, Miata, and more)...

Right, so 240kid and I were talking about this one day and I felt like sharing, seeing what you guys had to say. If you check SCCs article on the Spec V vs the Ralliart, you notice how they mention that the Spec doesn't like smooth input and such, you just kick it's *** hard enough and it will perform (beat WRX through slalom, if that says anything)... and well, my car being VERY similar to an SE-R Spec V in several ways (including suspension), I've noticed that it doesn't like all that fansy shmancy driving either. Do 240s and other Nissans in general like the same roughousing as Sentras do?

if you are savvy and good at haggling, you can get them for around 10 bucks or less a peice.

alot of it depends on the condition and type of tire as well.

I know that the local Goodyear dealer has a huge area in the back, full of old used tires. Haven't stopped to see if they actually sell them, but I'm sure if you ask around at tire places, you'll get some answers...

Any place that has a bunch of tires sitting around will probably sell them to you simply because they don't want to dispose of them, so if someone will take it off their hands, WAHOO!

I never said I'd drift my FWD car. Haha, far from it, I'm talking a circuit race :D.
