some updates on my HB

Forum for the Xterra, Frontier and Hardbody, the smaller workhorses of the Nissan lineup!

so i decided my cooling system could use a little help so this was what i did

i got a fan from a mercedes and squeezed it in behind the grille a ton of trimming was in order

and i had to relocate my oil cooler to the bumper

then i started making my shroud for the other side of the rad

and did a little engine turn kind of deal with my sander for the heck of it



and here it is mounted

ran both fans on the same relay and it seems to be working great!

How did you set it up so the fan knows when to turn on? Nice metal work btw. Not sure that oil cooler is very safe though.

well im running off the stereo power i think i just grabbed my multi meter and found a hot wire when the ignition was on and ran my positive from that with a switch in my dash and my ground is under my hood somewhere

So the fans run all the time or not?

no i have a on off switch for them so if its cold in the morning and i need to warm my truck up i just shut them off till i start driving

you know that they sale a solinoid and a thermostad that will have the fan on and off that way you dont have to have a switch

is hb your everyday truck?

yea i know they do but im fine with the way it is right now plus i just wanted it done cheap.

and yes its my dd

i understand so are you worried about your oil cooler being there?i would be scared sh!tless of a rock or something hiting my oil cooler its a great idea but i would get a shield or something

i guess im paranoid!

haha yea im a little nervous but hopefully soon ill get some steel braided lines and make a little shield for it
