I was just reading a post on people being @$$es and noob questions, but i dont really care just as long as i get my answer. First: are parts bought from the autozone store decent or should i order stuff online. the parts i was looking at were actually in the store. I was looking at a cone air filter and a new muffler. That brings me to my next question. What are the sizes that i need to know to be able to fit these on my car(if their worthy). Heres the stats on th muffler ......3A Racing / 1 1/2 in. Universal Stainless Steel Round Muffler with 4 in. Tip. and as for the air filter i have the stock thing a ma jiggy on a 95 se and would take the whole thing off.

If you have to ask... it's to small.

If your muffler is bad, replace it with a stock one. If you want a nicer sounding exhaust, buy an exhaust.

240SX has a 2" exhaust stock; the 3A muffler will sound like a ragged, pissed off bumble bee. It won't fit because it's too small anyway, so now you have two reasons not to get it.

We would suggest you actually save up your money and buy a quality header and exhaust system so you don't end up looking like a wanna be Honda ricer.

While a cone filter by itself will improve air flow, it won't add anything over 1-2 HP extra for your power until you get a larger full exhaust and header with a new intake pipe as well.

save up get real stuff, even though in car mods you arn't spending alot now say $200 on the muffler and intake filter... It's still $200 spent. And worst of all, you'll end up wanting to replace it very soon...

and regardless what she says, "size does matter" (this doesn't mean get the largest tip or the biggest muffler, yet it means make sure you get the correct sized exhaust, thus saving you the trouble just get a catback.)

I would like to add that a catback exhaust will also not help your power much at all (less than a cone filter by itself, in my experience) and would advise to save up for the whole IHE system and have it all installed at once to save on welding costs.

a key point to make is whats the purpose of you wanting to upgrade/change these parts.

Power, looks, sound, broken/replace, etc?

One of those could be a motivating factor by itself

I recommend getting a Circuit Sports dual pipe catback exhaust before they're discontinued. Got mine in the mail right before Christmas. You're not gonna fine better quality for $399 plus shipping. Looks almost stock, yet gorgeous with 3 inch piping...
