Since your pre-approved already, it basically means you have cash in hand. with that said, you have alot of buying and negotiation power when at a dealership.
When I found my Pathy, I already had the money deposited into my bank account from my lender. I called the dealership where it was, I think they were asking $16K at the time. I told them I lived 100+ miles away or something and have cash. I then told them I don't want to drive that far and not come home without the truck. I offered 14,300 before I even saw it, and the dealer said if I come up with that much in hand, he'd let me walk away with it. so I got there, we took it for a spin, I gave it a real good look down inside and out. when I made my decision, I handed him my debit card and told him to wrap it up. He was caught off guard for sure. the whole deal ended up taking about 1hr to complete. when it was all done, the sales manager walked up to me and said "this is the fastest I've ever seen a car leave this lot, fully paid for and everything". I told him, "its just like buying anything else" I defainatly felt like a baller that day.
point being, talk to them before you go there and state your intentions with them. In todays market, you have the advantage. Use it where you can, and car dealers are the best place to bargin. Also get a Carfax. If its a reputable dealer, they will buy it for you. look it over, heck if you can get them to fax it to you, post it on here. I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one who would look it over for you and point out any suspicious remarks on the report.
