have any of you ever welded up you subframe? how long did it take you? how big of a difference did it make?

and welding up the open differential? how many of you have done it? results?

my s13 is only for drifting at events, so theres no need to tell me that it isnt safe for the street.

thanks in advance :)

it may not be strong enough and your frame may get out of alignment.welding up the open diff- i wouldnt, if its cracked housing, go to the local junk yardive never acually done any of this, but it is my oppinion on it.

wait, what exactly do you mean by welding the diff?like eliminate the diff action by welding some gears together or something?

i beleive the ae86's have a solid axle...probably makes a difference.just get a phantom grip.they're cheap as hell and good enough for drifting.

welding the spider gears together is like having the lsd "on" all the time. i only use this car for drifting anyway.

and i dont think i'll ever get a phantom grip.

but i'd like to know what im up against before tearing into the rear end.

but then again i might just save up for the kaaz 2 way. :)

I've seen ppl weld the diff before, and the only problem was drivability, as far as I know. (in parking lots, and what-not)

As for the subframe, I'd say just get energy suspension rear sub-frame bushings. Since you're going to be drifting, you're probably going to be hitting a couple walls, and I'm pretty sure you're going to want to be able to swich out subframes if you mess it up.

Since it's going to be a drift only car, you could even buy the aluminum subframe "bushings". these would pretty much be the same as welding it in, w/o the adverse effects of not being able to get it back off.

Is there anybody out there who has the phantom grip? I've gotten calls from customers about them, and I have no idea how good (or how bad) it is. . . I'm actually tempted get one for my own car just to see whether it's good or not. . . so I'd appreciate your imput before I waste my money on something that MAY work.

i had no idea that there were aluminum one's. where could i get some? i'd just like to look into this.

subframe bushings...... hmmm. would these aluminum ones just make it really stiff and strong?

actually, come to think of it. . . I'm not sure if I've seen these in the States. . . Jspec or some importer like that may have something like that, though. . .
