Hey, I am in the process of buying a car that needs cams to be complete. It's fully built bottom end and I plan to turbo within the next 12-18 months, but I need it to be a dd in the meantime (not to mention that the motor needs to be broken in). I was thinking about brain crower's 264/264's but after some searching, it looks like that would pretty much kill any chance at gas milage. I couldn't find that much info on different cam setups, so I thought I'd ask and see if we can compile some info into one thread. I'm looking to make ok NA power till I can turbo, so I need a cam that could put up with mild to moderate boost. I also can't really go too much below the 25 mpg mark either. What do you guys suggest? Also, I need some info on the advancement/retardment of whichever cams I decide to go with. The only setup I found good info on was 240/232, but the gas milage seemed really low. Thanks in advance for any help.

For those who don't want to follow the above link, it's a KA24DE built wiht CP forged 9:1 pistons, Sportsman rods, and a Fidenza flywheel on it now. To get it running, I plan to use a SPEC clutch kit, a DC Sports Header, APR head studs, but I still need help with the cam set-up. Please?

Hey man, with what is already done to that motor, theres prolly no way youd get close to the 25 mpg mark. Even with stock cams.

so, any ideas as to what I should do, regardless of gas milage. I need a cam that can run on the stock valvetrain and go NA or turbo.

and come to think of it, how would the stock injectors and a lower compression ratio mean less ga milage? Not trying to be rude, I want to know your rationale. Still waiting on some cam info.
