Im gone to get my CA front clip in TN this weekend. I was wondering iff you have to lengthen any wires on the harness? Some people are saying you dont and some are saying you do, so im confused. And what should the compression be acrross all 4 cylinders? I guess its too late to ask now, becasue i already bought it, but they guy who im buying it from said he tested it and it was 165..is that right? One more... will the stock KA downpipe work on the CA engine? If anyone has a aftermarket downpipe let me know. Thanks

No, you don't need to shorten or lengthen any wires, every thing should be plug and play especially if you are getting the entire clip. You need to cut three plugs of your engine harenss on the CA to get it to work with your KA body harenss, two plugs between the battery and the fender and one right before your ecu plug.

A good compression will be in the 155-165 range which indicates that the engine still pretty dam good, 145-155 better than average.

Any thing less than 140, is pretty low in my opionion

The Ka downpipe won't work, you need to either custom make one or buy an aftermarket one, check ebay or may be some members here might have one.

Thanks for the info, do you know what the plug goes to for the one near the ecu? I was kinda scared at 1st about the compression because i didnt know anything about those engines, but then u said the engine is still good between 155-165, so im good to go

Oil pump failure is the #1 cause of destruction to CA18s; which will ultimately lead to bearing failure then ring failure. Engines that have been modifed should be paid close attention to regardless of what anyone tells you about it. Physically inspct the motor yourself when you get it for your own piece of mind and not what someone tells you.

Mine had 155-160 across the board. But the rings were still bad and I had lots of blow by. Leakdown is the way to go.

Im familiar with a turbo car, i used to have a built 1991 eagle talon tsi awd. I thought awd was fun, but rwd is pretty fun too. thanks for the help

Set your motor to TDC and do a leak down test, which requires a leak down tester.

You basically use a special tool that allows you to pressureize the combustion chamber and then see how long it takes for the combustion chamber to loose the pressure that you placed into it.
