I'm into 240's, but I have very little know-how for the nissan mini trucks. I'm looking into buying one for an engine hauler/car trailer maybe.... for now. Then eventually I'd like to make it a sleeper.

My main question, is what years are best for aftermarket support? Say more "car-related" suspension type upgrades like coilovers for the front and lowering springs in the back, or whatever comes on trucks. As I stated, I'm not much of a truck guy, lol. I know I want to do an engine swap as well, so the factory motor isn't really a concern except for the towing part of it. Just trying to get some insight......

SR20DET swap is a possibility in a small 2wd HB truck. I've seen it done, but I have no idea how easy it is. I personally think that'd be a blast.

Wellllll.... I don't know if it was ever finished, but I saw a Q45 V8 in a D21 (don't remember if it was a VH41 or 45)-- I think D21s were throughout the 90s, up until 98 or 99 . . I'm learning.

And maybe as far back as 87.

D21s were from 86.5 - 97

In 1994, they underwent a significant interior upgrade to a much more attractive dash, etc.

If you want to create a true sleeper of a D21 there are some Chevy Engine to Nissan transmission adapters out there.

A Buick V6, like the turboed unit from a Gand-National, would be a real sleeper! But if you plan on doing any kind of towing you need to keep torque and low range horse power at the top of your list for engine needs.

Airbagging the truck would also give you more flexibility of ride heights when you do need to tow something. Nothing worse than your dropped D21 scraping the blacktop when you're haulin'.

The 3.5L Pathfinder puts out 240HP and that can be bumped with the right internals and a belt powered SC....but that does require some knowledge of the computer's engine management logic and fuel requirements.

The transmission's are tough in the 2wd Trucks but not bullet proof. Not sure what you could do to beef-up a Nissan transmission.
