Some questionable noises...

Hey all,

Got an '01 pathy, manual with 73K on it and I hear some things I'd like some opinions on.First, when I'm at a stop and start going again in 1st, it usually goes into gear with a thump. I can affect the severity of the noise by going into gear slower with more clutch, but still, I don't think that's normal.

Second, when in neutral, there's a very slight whirring sound that goes away when I step on the clutch. I used to have an old BMW 325 with a bad transmission that did the same thing, so I'm desperately worried that my sweet pathy may have a similar ailment. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks much.

Sorry no idea for question 1 Your second question definitely sounds like throw-out bearing on clutch, not usually a problem other than the noise, just replace it with a new one next clutch replacement.
