Hi guys I got a friend who just bought a 92 convertible and is doing the rb25 swap. Now i've read up on what is needed for the swap and what not. Its my first time dealing with a convertible, so i was unfamiliar with couple of things. Like how it has 2 accelerator cables, one is coming from the pedal and the other one is coming from the passenger strut tower, idk what its called but its bolted on to the tower. So do i need keep that after the swap or no? Also it has a horn look a like thing bolted right next to the BMC, idk if all the convertibles came with it im guessing the PO put it on, but i was going to take that off also. So is there anything else that differs from a rb swap into a hatch or a coupe vs a convertible? Also we were thinking about using the McKinney motor mount kit and we were wondering how much room it leaves in front of the motor, to run puller fans instead of pushers? Thanks in advance nico!!

i have a rb25 in my vert. 2nd cable is for cruise control, i tossed it. you may decide differently, but i dont know what involved in making it work. the horn looking thing sounds like an alarm, most likely.

i would HIGHLY recommend the greddy/freddy intake manifold; it looks a thousand times better, performs better, and may help avoid hood clearance issues.

Fan clearance depends on several variables, motor mounts, radiator thickness, and fan thickness. i used a mishimoto radiator, flexalite 112 fans and ebay mount kit, and there was no way to have pullers with that combination of parts. that being said, my engine is less than 1/2" from my firewall, so i dont think the mounts were as much the problem and the chosen radiator/fan combo. I know there's a company that makes a radiator that actually sits UNDERNEATH/INSIDE the core support, but it's also 500 dollars.

McKinney mounts and a wiring specialties harness for the win. To make the cruise work you will need the acuator section for the throttle body. I used one from a rb25 neo. Idk what else will work. I agree with the horn thing by the bmc that it is an alarm siren. Nothing like that should be on the vert. You won't be able to run pulled fans at all. Invest in a good pusher set up or keep the clutch fan.

Definitely recommend running a clutch fan, best option especially if you still have one attached to the motor,

but for the record I initially had dual F-A-L puller fans with a Mishimoto radiator with verrrrrrry little room to run (S13 Convertible with Mckinney mount.)

I eventually decided to install AC as I had all of the components (except for having custom [fitted] lines for AC made) and had to make sure I did not have my AC compressor in the way, I dropped to a single 12" puller and have been on that for 4+ years now..
