some problems with my rb20

First off my idle sucks. It surges and sometimes dies. I set the tps, at higher throttle it will stay around 1200 without surging. Once the idle lowers it surges.

Secondly, once in a while I'll be driving and I'm pretty sure my ignition dies on me somehow...Lets say I'm on the gas...If i'm in gear my engine will keep rotating but my throttle will become unresponsive. It feels exactly like driving in gear then turning your key back. Your engine rotates but you get no spark...What would cause this? Ignitor, cas, ecu,green relays, If anyone has experienced this problem please let me know. By the way it usually happens for like 2 seconds. The other day it happened for like 5 seconds.

Third, I have a noise coming from the transmission. Almost like there's something bouncing around inside of it. It stops once I hold the clutch down. It also gets louder when I downshift to first or second. Throwout bearing?Thanks guys!Here are some pics of my work in progress!

yep i been having those same problems on mine for the longest time now.. never really figured it out... but i have tired replacing, coils, plugs, fuel filter, cas, and timing. you can try doing those and i hope they fix that problem for you but didn't help me and my rb does the same thing and then has a hard time starting.

I thought maybe my fuel pump was dying but when that happens it sputters then dies. Or you could rev it then it falls flat on its face. Lets see what happens...

HaaHaa.......

I hope this helps with you guy's and the stalling/ bucking issue...... mine was doing the same thing after about a month of having it on the road...

i traced it down to a "repairable" MAF meter issue.... if your Maf is the all plastic one carefully cut the square top off by using a razor knife or such around the edge where the rtv or silicone is.... there is a lip about 6-8mm down in there.... loosen it with a small pick or screwdriver and gently pry it off..... don't worry you aren't going to hurt anything unless you get rough with it.... there are 4 pins that come from the plug and are soldered to the circut board in there.... 3 of mine were cracked loose. take a soldering gun and just reheat the stuff that's already there. you can check them by gently prying around on them to see if they are attached first but i have seen this issue a couple times now, after you fix them use a small amount of rtv and reattach the cover.... my car would run fine for several days and then start acting up again.... after the fix i've had no problems.....

i used two n60's and 4 j60's nothing fixed it.

Hesitation is different than what I'm experiencing. My car feels like if the ignition is off. I give it gas and nothing. It stays in gear slowing down. I just got back from a drive and it's happening a lot. Like every few minutes it will just either shut off or slow down in gear as I'm driving...BTW if you want to see pics and directions on how to fix the maf or clean the coil packs go to gtrcanada.com.

you dont have any boost leaks do you? mine did that because of a boost leak once and also my maf went out at the another time. is your ecu throwing any codes?

wut kind of lip is that, looks clean as f**k and wut adapter is that on the upper radiator hose?

Stock pignose lip I think. The adapter is an autometer adapter.Last night my car barely made it home. It dies and I just can't accelerate. It's become more and more frequent...At first it would just freeze up once in a while...Now its happeneng everytime I drive the car. Last night it wouldnt stop. Could this be a mafs issue?
