Problem:

1) There is a grinding noise in engine bay area. It happens only above ~2200 RPM. It sounds like a chain rubbing against a piece of metal. It also gets louder as the RPMs increase. The engine feels rough overall during operation.

2) Sometimes when I engage the clutch, I can hear a sound like keys jingling, but loud, in the transmission area. It does this when I engage at low RPMs, but lately it would do this at around 1000-1200 RPMs sometimes.

3) I can't adjust the idle. I couldn't take the IACV off so I decided to spray some carb cleaner into the adjusting screw hole and into the larger vacuum lines running off of the intake tube. This kind of helped with the idle, but i couldn't adjust the idle. To adjust, you have to warm up car, turn off, disconnect TPS, start up car and adjust through screw, turn off motor, reconnect right? The screw is in all the way.

4) Hissing noise. Happens when the engine is under a load (ie. in gear) and accelerating. Does this in gears 3-5, sometimes 2nd. Sounds almost like a turbo spooling. I just put on an intake system and everything is tightened down. Also none of the rubber connecters are worn or have holes. Problem existed before intake as well.

5) When engaging clutch, sometimes the car would shake violently. This problem is avoided by revving slightly higher (1400-1600 RPM) when simultaneously engaging. I hardly ever beat on the car (I never launch or burn out and I don't rev high when I engage)

6) When car is put into gear, I can feel a *clunk*. I've searched and found that it could be the differential, diff. bushings, or subframe bushings. Instead of just buying random things, I would like to know how I can test the things to pinpoint the problem.

7) Lack of power after driving for awhile. Car seems semi-peppy, but after some time, the car is really sluggish. There is no difference between 1/4 throttle and full throttle, I would even say 1/4 throttle has more pep.

I've done a full tune-up in the past (last year) so it's not like I don't keep up with basic maintenance. Please help, I feel like I am at my wits end with this car.

Ok, maybe my question seemed too noobish. I've asked before but I figured that it couldn't hurt to get new input.

1) I will check chain guides, though it doesn't seem like the problem.

2) Still no idea what it could be.

3) Maybe test the TPS to see if it works, then try to remove IACV to further clean?

4) I'll check cat.

5) Bad clutch?

6) Subframe bushings, diff., diff. bushings?

7) CTS checked out, the car is not running rich, new O2 sensor a month ago, maybe cat?
