(CNN) -- Sen. John McCain on Friday said as president he would consider bringing Osama bin Laden to justice through a Nuremberg-like international trial.

He told CNN's Wolf Blitzer, "We have various options. The Nuremberg Trials are certainly an example of the kind of tribunal that we could move forward with. I don't think we'd have any difficulty in devising an international -- internationally supported mechanism that would mete out justice. There's no problem there."

McCain said it would be a "good thing to reveal to the world the enormity of this guy's crimes, and his intentions, which are still there."

When asked if as president he would move the U.S. embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee unequivocally stated, "Yes." Asked when, he said, "Right away."

"I've been committed to that proposition for years," he said.

I agree with the bin Laden statement, however, I'd like to see a concrete promise to get him.

However, I don't know if moving the embassy is a good idea given the climate in that part of the world.

Thoughts?

I dunno ... I think moving the embassy to Jerusalem would be a sharp stick in the eye of any negotiations that are going on.

Not that I think the Mid-East problems are going to go away any time soon!

the timing is bad on such a move. you know, there is a large building next to my house in damascus, that, for the last 20 years, has been unoccupied. the current thinking is that it is being converted into the ISRAELI embassy. thats right, you read it right. ISRAELI. peace with syria, and therefore the arab world, is very close. Syria's president is very keen to see such a measure. Just face it though, the US has been sidelined in terms of a peace negotiator. the positive evidence of this was then Syrian president flew to Paris to speak with Sarkozy prior to the Mediterranean summit. If you move the embassy from tel aviv to jerusalem, you run the risk of derailing the most significant progress in 30 years. thanks for pandering to West Palm Beach and New York, McCain. Not that Obama is any better.

Helio, Am I wrong in believing that the two most significant things that can happen to bring peace to the middle eastern region would be Israel and its neighbors reaching such an agreement and secondly, the US removing their combat troops (bases) from the region. Wouldn't that do wonders for many of the problems we are now facing in that region of the world?

If only it was that simple. the issue is there is a large disparity between the haves and the have nots, not only within each country, but also between neighbors in the region. for example, syria is a relatively poor country in relation to turkey, lebanon, or jordan. why? cause the US has blockaded foreign aid to our terorrism sponsering country. there are restrictions on the use of pestacides, by the us, technology, etc. in order for the situation on the ground to improve, you have to 1.) do the things you mentioned, 2.) show the same support in terms of aid (3-6 billion a year) as the us shows to israel, 3.) stop getting involved in politics of the region. relative to those cultures, the us is a child involved in a parents dispute. its actually quite insulting if you understand what i mean.

give the people, the youth, something positive to hope for, and watch their morale change for the better. terrorism springs out of dispare. the US has contiunally caused this in their eyes. our war efforts have not helped that, nor our cultural insensativity.

And you know what that sounds similar to here in the US, Tariq? The streets of inner cities.

I agree with you 99.99% of the way. That .01% is that I think we should cut back on aid to Israel and spread it more equally amongst the region.

that would help, but in this society, with west palm beach, hollywood, and new york as powerful as they are, its impossible. you wanna see how tied the US is to israel, just read each campaign's speech at AIPAC.
