We had a sweet rainbow last night at my house. My brother brought his car over so we could check the timing on it. While it was there was snapped a couple shots with the rainbow in the background.

btw.. he just installed a new set of cusco coilovers. Now he just needs some spacers to get those wheels flush.. and a little body work of course.

Not bad at all.

Not so sure a rainbow in Vert pics helps the convertible driver's image though.

it definitely needs some work, but it's coming along pretty nicely. and aside from being the gay fairy symbol of choice, rainbows are f'ing manly.

On a side note anyone here know if 5 mm spacers will be enough temporarily on my +40 offset rims to keep them from rubbing until i save up the money for the silvia front and widebody fronts and rears that i have waiting around?

thanks for the compliments on the car!

any other particulars about the rims and tire sizes? Rim width and tire size?. I would think a 5 might still keep you close (esp when pushing it). You could go with 7mm or 10mm (plus it pushes the wheel further out and looks nice). Is the tire rubbing or the rim? If tire running narrower tire with same aspect (middle set of numbers)will bring it in and lower. Changing the just the aspect ratio will lower tire(ie 225/50r17 to 225/45r17 will lower sidewall height by 5% of 225mm) but same width. if you have to buy the spacers then wider would be better (allows for future brake upgrades as well). Hope that helps

thanks for the response gointopless, heres what I got. rims are 17 inch i believe, the tires read 215/40R17 83H. Cusco coilovers, not sure what kind though...

I'm slowly learning how offsets and wheel numbering works in general, but i'm definitely still a noob. Eikon said the rims were +40 offset. I guess i'd rather just find a temporary and cheap but safe solution at the moment. Next summer I plan on doing the body work, which includes oversized rear fenders and we think the fronts are oversized as well. When that happens i'll buy nicer rims. So for right now I just want the fronts to not rub and to look decent. Do they sell cheaper 10mm spacers or even 15mm or am I looking at 150 or more no matter what I do to get hubcentric 15mm + spacers.

Thanks again for all the help. I can get pictures tomorrow evening if that will help.

Ok...hmm I'm guessing you have 7 inch wide rims (converted to mm is 178 mm) Zero offset puts you at 89mm. Now a plus 40 leaves you with 89 mm +40 mm from the inside lip of rim to mounting point (rim and rotor come together). You probably won't be able to go much bigger than 10mm spacer without changing the studs. You need 1/4 engagement of lugnut on the studs (for safety). You also need two sets of hub centering rings. 1 for the spacer to the hub center and one for the rim to the spacer. Spend the extra money and get spacers with a flange on the outside (I'll take some pics of mine to give you an idea tomorrow). 10mm spacer should put rim face more flush to fender (with that offset you really need close to 20mm). When you get ready for your rims later, you can go wider and play with the offset more and then have to start to play with camber adjustment and roll center. But this should give you a starting point. Go 10mm, you'll be happy you did. This is where I got my spacers from http://www.projectnissan.com/s...=4650 Nice build on this product. Have had mine in for a couple of weeks... again 2 sets of hubcentric rings.. I know the feeling of doing things a step at a time.. I think price is for a pair.. i bought 25's. I think 15 may be the smallest they sell (have to be able to cover OE studs with spacer, but allows you to go wider without changing studs. .
