OK, get this, i was out last night witha couple friends, juss minding my own business. Some guy comes up to me and starts trashing the 240, stating there unreliable, their engines blow up (i had to point out they go 200k miles ez) they weight to much and are underpowered. i pointed out i had 155hp stock. hahahaAnyways the funny thing is he had to tell me what car i shoulda bought, and what he is going to buy for 5000 dollars.Get this hes buying a 91 ford escort, and dropping a honda civic sir motor....... :D What a ****ing moron!!! as soon as he said that i had to walk away from that bull****.... i'm no techie but that **** sounds impossible whata you think

anything can be done with a lot of money, but thats ranks in with the stupidest things I've ever heard.

The 240 IS underpowered, but that can be remedied for the same price he's paying for his car, and it would be faster.. : )

The swap for the Escort is the Cosworth Carburated motor. To swap a Civic motor into the Escort you would have to redesign the engine mounts and their locations as well as customizing the FWD suspension as the civic's linkage is about 2.4" longer than that of an Escort.

We recently did a Cosworth Escort here in Houston, and before importing the Cosworth engine from England we looked into EVERY possible swap without extending the frame.

The swap can be done, but it would run somewhere in the neighborhood of $8000 installed.

I might have you beat. Some guy where I work has an Escort station wagon. It's lowered, got some chrome rims, exhaust and some Japanese lettering in the back window. Anyway, he told me the other day that he's putting a Mitsu 2.0 turbo motor in his. I hate when people like that talk to me, I just have to nod and stare blankly until they go away. "Yo, me an' my homez are gonna sell peanuts to crackheads and when we get like 5 dallaz all sabed up we goin' to see Fred Sanford an' bye dis motor and duct tape it onto my tranzmission............"

There's a kid in my town that has a Taurus wagon with these stupid lil scroll mark stickers sayin he had them painted on and he talking that he's taking a Honda motor out of a 86' civic and gonna put it in the wagon. He tell everyone in town that he smoked everyone in our car club.

Yup, that stuff is universal. But I did see a an escort with a built 2.3L turbo pinto motor is it once. I don't know exactly how fast it was, but it smoked my Stang, when I had it. Swaps can be done. I've seen a guy with a Nissan H-Body p/u, like mine, with a 13B twin turbo mazda rotary motor in it. It cost him like 10 grand, but it's really cool, and REALLY fast(or it will be if he can ever get it to hook up w/o slicks and 4 sand bags in the back..LOL).

12sec240, you should have asked him what kind of blinker fluid he would put in it if he swaped the motors. :D

That's funny, you shouldve told him to get the led muffler tip. lol Anyway, I'm glad my cousin just bought a '96 240sx. It reminds me of my Max except its a coupe, rear wheel drive, lighter, and stick.

now i feel bad... lol... im one of those guys who dreams up crazy crap like shoving a SR20det into a 79 prelude, or putting an old rabbit gti engine or a vr6 into a dodge omni (which isnt really that hard seeing however omni's are rabbits with better door handles)and me and my brother were at one time drawing plans for doing a mitsu 2.0 GSX engine swap into a sable wagon... its all about the welder baby!either waysome of them are idiots... and some of them do it... and do it well!im not sure which ones are scarier -pete

turbo dodge guy here :) thought id chime in on this one... VW motors would be way hard to get into an omni, it would take a hell of alot of custom mounts and the trans is on oposite sides i belive... youd be a hell of alot better off just swapping in a turbo motor from a daytona, a spirit turbo, hell even a turbo 3 motor from a spirit r/t or daytona iroc r/t.... if youre acctually serious about swapping a motor into an omni i suggest getting an omni, going to a junkyard, find a 1989 and up turbo motor from a spirit, minivan, daytona, whatever.. swapping it in in a weekend, couple wiring harness changes, put a home made manual boost controller on it and a probe intercooler or whatever you can find for cheap, and youll have a low 13 second car with maybe 700 dollars max... bored. so i thought id share the wonderful thing that is turbo dodges... BTW, turbo dodge motors are NOT mitsu engines, designed and built in the US

i hate to try to be smart... because i rarely am... but the reason i said vw engine into an omni is because i know my brother had a charger (83?) turismo, and that had what appeared to be a vw engine in it (just like the one from the rabbit) im pretty sure our service manual said something to that respect too.. that some cars had vw powerplants?... also... mitsu did build a few older dodge turbo engines (colt turbo is the same as a tredia turbo.. but the colt is really a mirage anyway.. so im not sure which company you classify it from) and... if i was gonna turbo an omni... i would have to start with a factory turbo omni (yes... someone at chrysler was actualy cool enough to build a production of turbo dodge omni's, and they were awsome! probably still slow but they had an awsome nose spoiler with built in fog lights, and a kick *** 80's graphics kit... for that alone.. i want to make it nausiatingly fast...)anyway... thats my pointless blabber!-pete

what sreally scary is a 350 swap in to a PT Cruiser. thats wrong, sick, and disgusting. theres also the option of a 302 in to the focus which i know of someone doing. not cheap but power to weight is crazy.

I personaly can't stand when people start talking about stupid and sometimes even pointles swaps, this guy I talked to had a sunfire that he said he was gonna drop a prelude VTEC in!?On the other hand I've personally seen a Mercedes with a 350 and an older Jag with...i forget exactly what engine it was but it was like a chevy or ford.

i've seen a few older jags, the old xj12's i think with chevy v8's in them... pretty nice and im sure its crazy power to weight. i personaly love the idea of doing useless crap. because its not only amussing but its also different and makes people confused. granted there are some typical rice swaps that i think are pretty stupid. but what about the guy who put a 323gtx turbo motor in his festiva! that cars is bad ***! if you think it through you can build something really cool and really stupid at the same time... all while being smart! no thats multi-tasking!as far as a prelude motor in a sunfire... thats stupid rice "i wish it was another honda" crap (personal opinion).as far as sticking a crvtec (b20 from a crv with a vtec head) or frankenstien b16 or 18 into a geo metro... now thats almost worth doing! although i do plan... and will build a turbocharged 3 cyl metro... hehe... fun with econo shi* boxes!-pete

Haha, how about getting raped by an old rusted 1954 chevy truck with a 454 in it. Let's just say I never expected the thing to work, much less take off like a bat out of hell.

My friend has some nice, very fast cars, a nova, a chevelle, and of course his truck. It half makes me want to buy an old muscle car.

Kugel V8 Focus:

We Americans are pretty sick f*cks when it comes to modding cars sometimes. I still think stuffing a V8 in a Fiero was the mod that most impressed me to date...

That Focus is cool, but one thing I like about the import scene is we are doing all this with relatively efficient motors, not gas guzzling V-8s. And, if RWD is what you want, forget the focus, go with a 240SX. Still, it is cool...

Well i know of some Crazy swaps.

My friends Bro has a 99 ZX2 Escort, and he found a kit for a 350 swap with RWD.

The swap me and my friend want to do is a Zuki Sidekick, with either a rx7tt rotory, or if we had money a rb26dett, with the AWD from a pathfinder. kind of make our own picks pike escudo, but keep it stock looking

While reading the first page of this thead I was reminded of a recent trip I took to Oklahoma.

I saw a Dodge Neon with a SIR sticker AND a Type R sticker. Even though the trip took place over a month ago I am still trying to figure out if the driver was just a ricer or a ****ing retard. Nothing against Neons (I owned 2 before the 240,) but damn. Did he have to go that far?
