hey guys, I'm new to the forums here... I dont drive a 240, but i have a 05 wrx... Still I am a big fan of silvia's and 240's and plan to build one for myself in a couple of years... I like to do my research ahead of time since i dont have patience but anyway, my newbie questions...In my plannin for the future, I wondered about a few things... i'd really like a RB26dett, but with its costly price, I wondered, what is the most horsepower that i can squeeze out of an sr20det either s14 or s15 engine? My goal is to produce a 12sec car... I think i read somewhere that the sr20det should only be pushed to around 300hp? wat is the fastest 1/4mi that a sr20 with aftermarket turbo/fmic and supporting mods without changing internals run? I have a dream to take a 89-94 hatchback, drop a sr20/rb26/rb25, convert it to a S15 front end, and a s13 back end with a wide fenders to increase the width.. i would also like to get rims that are around 9-9.5 width if thats possible after increasing fender size... i would also probably run 18s in the back and 17s in the front.. bad idea?

Umm the SR has a record of 600 hp on stock bottom end. Not saying this is a daily driver but it can hold more than 300.

Also Enjuku and a few others have gotten 12.7-12.9 on stock Turbo so It all depends on what 12s you want.

my setup trapped at 106MPH good for high 12s or 13.0~13.1 depending on my launch.

It certainly is fast as a 12 sec car but... I cant launch my car for jack.. with all season tires, chitty clutch, wheel hopping i get 13.9 hahah sux..

But, to answer your question, it doesnt take much to make your SR fast. bigger turbo, injectors, maf, good tune, greddy intake mani, cams are all good ingredients for a fast car

thats awesome, I cant wait for this to happen... but it wont be happening for another couple of years thanks for your replies tho! BTW, how does the SR20 sound? does it sound nice? or does it sound like any other 4 cylinder... cuz the boxer engine in the Subaru's sound so damn MEAN and rumbly i love it...

Boxer motor has a sound of its own. The SR depending on turbo size and exhuast can sound very deep. If you go cheap on the exhaust though it can sound like a pissed off bumble bee.

yeah mine doesnt have a very unique sound to it, but its pretty deep. im just glad i didnt get that raspy sound i had before with my spec-v once i got a header. and yeah wrx's are probably the best sounding imports, that and g35s/350zs

Apexi GT Spec or HKS Hi PowerOr I havnt tried or seen it but the Greddy EVO II exhuast sounds crazy on the RB but this exhuast is very rare to find used and exspensive new.
