hey fellas whats happening. im form the ka forum and ive been debating on getting a turbo system or just running na. i saw someone on the net had turbo but didnt have new injectors or timer or electronics, just the main hardware. is there a way to put turbo without electronics and injectors. i just want to run 2-4 psi in it. also i do have alot of miles but the engine is clean. i dont want to go all out, i want a little of better performance and that cool blowoff noise. thanks i have hot shot headers and intake with little extras. if its possible im going to replace highflow cat with turbo blower and run 3" pipe. or run after the cat.

u can run a t3 super 60 at 5psi non-intercooled on stock injectors with a 8:1 fmu. that basic setup should cost you like 700 bucks.

what engine is this going on? You'll just need to find a manifold... then get a z31 turbo (i think that's what he's talking about), downpipe, piping for intake, and from turbo-intake manifold.. I'd imagine all the piping is going to have to be custom made.

do a little research.. there's tons of info here.

All a dumb turbo timer does is allow your car to cool down for 60 seconds after you turn the ignition off. Allowing the oil to cool so it doesn't cook in the turbo.. You can do the same thing by just giving yourself that time before jump out of the car.

Waste of money IMO.

You need exactly this.

New exhaust manifold gasketsA turbo manifold that matches the turbo you decide on. Lets assume you want a T3 for now.Get a used T3 on EBAY or a rebuilt one, rebuilt is only 400. Thats what I would do.Then you'll need a flange that will mate up to the back of the turbo and go into your downpipe. You'll need 2.5 inch pipe, usually J-bends from Summit Racing work the best. Unless you're getting the exhaust fabbed for you. But you didn't really give us any details about what you're going to do.Then you'll need pipe that goes from the turbo outlet into the throttle body, again j-bends and some straight pipe from Summit Racing will work. You'll need silicone pipe couplings to hook everything together. You'll need band clamps/hose clamps to use with the couplings. You'll need a 10:1 FMU to add fuel when you're on boost. You'll need extra fuel line to install the FMU.I'd suggest a new fuel pump as well, but not really needed if you stay at 5psi or under.

That should be it.

If you have any other questions, make sure you include alot of details so we can help you. Like who's doing the work, can you weld, whats your budget...etc.

make sure you dont bolt up that t3 without finding out what kind of boost its wastegate is set up for. a boost gauge would also be benifitial. you will also have to buy a blow off valve which get welden before your tb on this particualr setup

Hmmm...not sure if you have your priorities exactly straight for this project, no offense. I'm surprised no one has recommended Corky Bell's "Maximum Boost". It's a really good book to introduce you to the basics of forced induction. Not too technical, but it'll give you a good grasp on things.

And, yeah, why not skip the turbo timer and spend the extra minute or so listening to the radio or picking your nose (my personal favorite).

Oh, and it's always a possiblity that your engine will go boom. It just goes with the territory.
