Hi I have a 97 240sx and I'm slowely fixing it/modding it and I just wanted a lil advice on the engine/transmission. When I bought the car it was swapped from an auto to a manual, but none of the wiring was connected to the transmission. Soo I've been looking for a manual harness/ecu for a 1997 240, but I heard that the 96 was the better ecu/harness to get b/c it had a higher rev and was less restricted ( I think in 97 they passed another emission law or something, I wanna stay with obd2). I also have this noisy thing in my engine thats connected to my crank, I think they call it a clutch fan (har har har:pface )??? I was wondering if anyone has hooked up an electrical fan to a thermostat (should I get an aftermarket stat?) to have it kick in at a certain temp (also wut brand fan do you recommend or should I just take one off a car that already has one?). Ok and I was also wondering if there is a way to get rid of the speed limiter without disabling the rev limiter?
Ok now the transmission! I'm gonna order a new clutch master cylinder, slave valve thing, and upgrading to braided clutch lines. I think that will be enough to fix the ruff shifting (unless you can suggest more), but I was wondering If I should go ahead and switch to a short shifter to help rid of all the play in the shifter (also wut brand? and is an ebay shifter fine). Ok and one last thing. The transmission has an ACT clutch and Fidanza light weight flywheel and I some times get a lil chatter (noise). Someone told me it’s normal when you put a light flywheel in, but someone has also told me it might not be balanced???? I know nothing about that, so if you do that would be great.
Thanks for reading and I would even be more thankful if you would reply with some helpful knowledge haha
