Hey guys.

I don't have a z32 but I was hoping to enlist the help of some of you gurus and maybe figure something out.

I have a vg33er in my car, which has a mechanical speed sensor and a cable driven speedometer, and works well enough to spin the speedo in my current cluster

but I like the z32 cluster and it has the correct redline for my motor and the speedo goes further so I guess my question is simple:

does the z32 have a cable driven speedometer/mechanical VSS? has anyone linked up a z32 cluster to a vg33?

thanks in advance

I'm not too sure of other year Z32's, but my 92 Z32 TT does not have a cable driven speedometer. It is full electric. As for mating it up to your vg33, I have no idea how one would do that.

All years should be fully electric. And I'm just one more person that wouldn't have a clue on swapping gauges like that.

Do love your 200SX though. Was at Greg's place when he put the article up on the homepage.

Yeah that's what I was afraid of, my dad was tryna tell me what you guys are telling me I just wanted more people to tell me no before I believed it haha. I'll likely have to go with something older, or a custom gauge set up all together. I managed to link my stock s12 cluster to the vg33 though

Thanks Ace, there's a lot more coming for it as I update it and get it ready for nicofest =]

...and suddenly I had a flash of inspiration! :iconeek

The s12 transmission is identical to the one in an s13, literally, and thus the speed sensors are swappable....

so. I take the speed sensor out of an s13, which is electrical, and plug it into my transmission and run it into a z32 instrument cluster.

Sweet! Glad you got it figured out man! One thing to consider though, the speed calibration may be off, so you may need to install a resistor on the signal wire to compensate. :dblthumb:

I'm hopin it'll be pretty close, if it is I can use the calibrator we have at the shop to get it in sync =]
