i kno u guys use the tomei camshafts.i have a big turbo(t3/t4) on with standard compression.i want to improve low to mid range torque and power. the cams i'm using are 270 8.8mm intake and 260 8.8mm exhaust.i kno this should be done on a dyno bot we only have one in our country and it's very expensive to use.any ideas on advancing or retarding the cams using cam gears to help me out?

I think skunk2 have a good how-to on degreeing camshafts on their webpage. (edit: http://www.skunk2.com/camshaft_tech.php)

You need a degreewheel, and a dialgauge (magnet stand will work). Also you will need specs from tomei on when the valve should open, close, maximum lift (and so on).

You will also need to check valve to valve clearance.

Valve relife/pocket clearance should be checked if you have valve pockets in your pistons.

Piston to valve clearance could also be checked.

With camshafts that has so much bigger duration than stock these things should be checked regardless of you getting the the camtiming tuned on a dyno or not. If if you do this corect the timing will be pretty damn close to perfect without dyno tuning.

Also it is more common to have more duration on the exhaust side, than the other way around.
