for intercooler piping, i am going to have to go with some muffler shop steel piping until i get a little more money to buy some good aluminum stuff. i was wondering if its okay to use this stuff because it doesnt have a lip on it to help the connections from leaking. if this is alright, are there any special connections and/or clamps that i should use to prevent leaks? i was just going to get some silicon connections and use t-bolt clamps, would that be alright?

i was also thinking of just using the stock CA maf to get the car running.. would 7psi or so on my gt28 be too much for it? im not going to be able to push the car much while breaking it in..

finally, what would everyone reccomend as a good break-in proceedure for my engine? it has new bearings, rings, seals and a new head gasket. same stock pistons, rods and main and rod bolts. how many miles should i drive it like a little girl for? i was thinking 1000-1500 miles but im not sure if thats necessary since it doesnt have new pistons and rods and stuff. for the record, this engine probably wont make it another 5-10k miles before i tear it apart and bore and stroke the hell out of it.

Right now im using muffler shop piping, and it doesn't leak. Just make sure to tighten the clamps correctly.I am pretty sure 7lbs on the gt28 isn't going to be to much for the stock MAF. especially since breaking it in, u wont go too high in the revs.Dont know how long u should break it in. Never had a new engine!

Weld some beads around the pipe end and smoothen any sharp edges. A tube expander is another option.

alright, ill just go with some muffler shop junk without beads and crunk down the t-bolt clamps for now. i dont think im going to go with a tube expander because i dont know how well this place can flare the ends. i also dont know if i can get the connectors over the pipes if theyre flared.

Yup, that is important. I know exactly where I'm going to break mine in at too. There is a real windy road that follows the edge of a lake not 10 min from where the car is at. My freind and I used to race my car and his Yamaha R1 around it. It should be perfect for breaking the motor in.

ive got a special mountain pass in mind. only a few miles from my house. should be fun. and yes, the car will be warmed up quite well before any breaking in occurs. ive also got to check and make sure nothing is going to break on me.

Dude, I ALWAYS take ALL of the tools that I can fit in my car when I put a new motor in and take it out to test drive it. I've been stuck on the side of the road too many times for stupid crap that I could have fixed with a damn socket wrench that I didn't have...

seriously. i know how it feels. it usually makes it to my destination whe it breaks down, but not before it costs me my voice (from yelling at it), my wallet and my time. its freaking rediculous. its only stranded me a dozen times or so in about a year of running. it has broken down however, about 3 dozen times in there.. gotta love my dead-reliable car.

Hey tim, cool got ur baby running again huh.... well I've never really break in a new piston enegine before. But on my rotaries after I rebuilt and street port it. it need 1500 miles of ...baby no over 4k rpm...and minimum boost. again..that may apply on rotaries only...just be sure that u warm up the car to operating temp before u decide to rip the life out of it. And if u decide to to make that 20mins heavyfoot work....have a friend follow behind u. and i say follow behind because..He/She can see a lot more behind than in front of u just incase. we need to get together some of these days man...can't wait to see ur car again. C, yeah, we do need to get together sometime soon. mine isnt quite running yet but all the parts are in my garage, so it will only be a few days until its back on the road. thanks for the tip on getting someone to drive behind me, i had forgotten about that. good luck with your car and with some luck i can swing by in the next few weeks.
