I have a guy wanting to buy my car, he wanted it saftey inspected before he would even conisder it.

I told him it needed tires, tie rod ends, front brakes and some minor body work to pass a saftey check. my windsheild is cracked, but it is outside of the drivers field of view..therefore it passes.

heres what he nailed me for

- tires, front right, left rear- 2 front strut mounts- front and rear brake pads and rotors- Windshield washer resivior loose- Left inner and outer tie rod end- right front marke lense loose - hole, right rear q/p (behind mud flap)- muffler too big - Hydraulic clutch line loose- both front flex hoses loose- power steering rack (i dont understand this one, it functions, it doesnt leak...)- Oil leak (my front timing cover used to leak, is now fixed, motor was just dirty)- Hole, right rear wheel well (behind mud flap)- Fuel lines at gas tank (it went to the garage sans a gas tank altogehter..- Power steering line, loose - Hood release cable - no handle- Licence plate light (i dont have bulbs in it)- Horn ( this one burns my ***, i went thre, and i showed him it worked, i had pulled the fuse one night cus i needed it for my fuel pump lol, and he still marked it)- Parking brake doesnt hold ... (it definatley does, i cant move the car with it engaged)- REVERSE LIGHTS (this one burns even more, he told me he couldnt check cus there was no shift knob on my shifter)- SHIFT KNOB

needless to say i ripped him a new one for the dumb ****, yeah there is some legit stuff on there, stuff i knew about, so did the kid buying the car... he even told me he marked it hard cuz he hates imports,(this is supposed to be a friend of my dads)

Well, at least now you both know what is wrong with it, and you both have a better idea of what you have for sale. Doesnt seem the garage did anything wrong, it was asked of the shop to safety check a car and thats what they found wrond with it. Why is the garage such a douche for finding a few things that you werent aware of???

i guess he was a doucher because he was a jerk about it?either way, the kid doesnt need to buy the car if he's being nit-picky, these s13's are old and getting older simple as that, they have problems.anyone whos had one for any length of time knows this.and the rest of the crap, dude thats your own fault, put that fuse in, get a shift knob, tighten your hoses and lines! good lord!.

all of them seem fair except for the muffler being too big, what exactly defines "too big"?

i understand he was doing his job, but he took it a little far, considering that most of the stuff on the list isnt even rquired for a saftey check

Is a safety check in Ontario considered an inspection?

If not then a safety check here at my shop, would consist of a total look over of the car and I would have probably found more, just to be sure we didnt miss anything that would be a safety issue, or possibly get you pulled over, or, cause you a problem. He is thorough is all and I can respect that, although, "muffler too big" wouldnt have been on my list, unless it was rubbing on something.

If it is an inspection, then I would see most of the issues on that list, to be a safety concern and therfore fail.

Seems to me that your pissed because u have a car with a lot of problems and therefore is causing you an issue in selling the car. I would ask you immediately to lower your price. Or walk away.

LOL muffler too big

I had taken my girlfriends cabrio in to get inspected and it failed. And DRL wasn't working. So I went home and looked and they were a bit dim I guess. I replaced the bulbs and took it back and they said they still failed. I went out there and turned the car on and amazingly it worked! the dummy never turned the car on except to drive it forward, did the inspection with the key turned halfway. VW's are special.

Well here is the good part. Now you know whats wrong so fix all that your capable of and then reinspect. It sounds like you can fix most of that yourself.

Brakes around,Inner, outer tie rods, boots, Shock plates. And some exhaust.

The rest is little here little there stuff

sounds like you are a douche, I do that all the time when I inspect vehicles. All you need is some yahoo slapping together their car and trying to sell and pass off garbage. SO let me get this straight, you are pissed because a shop told you everything this is wrong with your car??

Sounds to me like you are the douche. Corner lights just take a second?

Then take a few minutes and take care of your car!!! It sounds to be like you are just lazy, and angry that someone told you all the things wrong. Last time I checked, lines should be firmly affixed, not loose.

Check yourself before you wreck yourself!
