Ok, im gong to pick up a 91 240sx and as this being my first 240 and nissan project i have a few questions. first off, what is the stock weight? secondly about what would be the weight with no engine, transmission or interior? Also, im doing a ca18det in it. do i have to buy special motor mounts or buy the ka24de ones or do i need to make my own? if someone makes them, where can i get them? Also, how much of a pain is the swap itself? does everything just slide into place and bolt in or is there some fabrication involved? if there is fabrication needed, what is it?if there is someone who has done this swap and knows alot about it i would appreciate some information. thanks

search you #%$#@^& newb!Just kidding We have some good detailed stickies up top here on the CA forum and you should check the 240SX forum up a few for weights and platform-specific things like that. We have a search function up at the top of the page, it blinks, very blingey. You should be able to find just about anything short of my secret ingredient for chili.

"...my secret ingredient for chili. "

1st: SALT!!!2nd: can i answer the questions without fear of reprisals? i take your silence to mean yes...the swap is very easy, the motor mounts are about if not absolutly the same, your swap should have both sets (your originals and the ca's)use the better set of the two. everything bolts in, but you may need to gently massage some pieces to fit as rhd is different from lhd. but as with any answer from this board every swap experience is different, so your answers will be different to swap problems will be different. and as TMS so eloquently put it, use the stickies and the search, those things are soul-train solid gold!!! good luck!

Sorry fitch, you're wrong about the motor mounts. The KA/SR mounts will work, but the motor will sit up to high and be tilted incorrectly.

The part numbers for the correct mounts are in the stickies and the upgrade guide I wrote.

after spending, i think, close to $300 on nismo mounts, i'm of the opinion you should just use whatever mounts come with the swap. i think someone said you could silicone glue the gaps, and then get a harder transmission mount. any-hoo, my mistake, they do fit, but you're right about the motor ride height issue for sure. edit: i said "about the same"

I have seen window welded mounts and they seem to work just as well. They look like crap, but who cares.

I do think a stiffer motor mount and especially the transmission mount are important. When the motor and drivetrain are under load, the transmission can actually shift from it's normal position and cause you to mis-shift.

I can feel mine shift constantly through the shifter. I think I might have to whip up some solid mounts. My suspension and clutch already stress me, what's a little engine vibration?
