some advice please

this has happen a few times before. yesterday i was doing 60mph and a car slowed down almost to a stop to switch lanes.So i stepped on the gas to and it di not accelerate , i slightly removed my foot of the gas then pressed agin and it then sped up..
Another time i flooring it and at a certain point it did not accelerate until i slightly release my foot and stepped on it again.... HAs any one experienced this before.. i have 167000 miles on the car.
