I bought a 94 Q45 a few months back. Its TCS and SLIP lights would go on after a few minutes of driving, and the TCS would shut down. The TCS error code indicated low pressure.

I decided to change the fluid, which took 4 cycles of suctioning out the reservoir (using an old soap bottle pump and squirting the fluid into a glass jar), refilling the reservoir with new fluid, and turning the 10 mm nut to cause the pump to cycle the fluid around. Each time the amount of gummy-looking old fluid was surprising. Finally it ran clear.

I'm convinced that the old, old fluid was so viscous that it prevented the pump from achieving full pressure. In several days of driving with the new fluid I have had no error indications.

Total cost to fix: $5.

Congratualtions.

When fluid is that bad, wouldn't hurt to doit a few more times, or even mechanically flush it to get the gunk out of everything downstream from the pump.
