Ginger ale helps too, as long as you stay away from the diet stuff.

I sneezed today at work and forgot to keep my mouth open like the nurses said. That goes on my list of top ten most painful experiences.

Had mine cut out at age nine. Pain and then some pain. Had no desire for ice cream whatsoever.

Also licorice tea is soothing...and tasty (if you like licorice like I do).
When I'm singing for shows or concerts, I use throat coat tea (Traditional Medicinals), with plenty of honey. If I have to perform with a sore throat, I've actually guzzled honey straight. Its disgusting, but it does soothe and coat the throat.

I just got over illness really quick like this.

Eat Vitamin C tablet every 12-24 hours.

Drink mint tea as hot as you can handle.

Never swallow the mucus.

Wear extra layers.

Then it all comes down to when you sleep, I sleep as hot as I can handle. Pajama pants and long sleeves with a comforter. I sweat the bed and 24hours later I'm not sick anymore.

Certain viruses and bacteria can't thrive much above normal body temperature (which is why you run a fever as an immune response). Working out simulates that and also kick-starts your metabolism, allowing you to produce more white cells and wage an open-field campaign against whatever bug you have (which is probably now in a weakened state).

For me, 30 minutes on an elliptical in a hot room, followed by a hot shower and 8 hours of uniterrupted sleep is the quickest way to kick the sick.

I also occasionally pass out and bash my head on the floor while employing this method.

So trade illness for injury?

I am just now beginning to see the end at the light of the tunnel of my strep throat experience. Bex suggested the salt water to me too, which I did, and it helped a little, but not what I was looking for. I read if its a fungal thing, to add garlic. I did, and my breath RANKED for over a day (think I went I little heavy on the garlic). Anyway, it didn't do s***.

The thing that worked THE MOST, was gargling Listerine. I must have gone through half a bottle. Take a deep breath, take a swig, tilt your head back and roar. I did this like 2-3 times before every time I tried to eat. It numbed the s*** out of everything, so I could actually eat/drink stuff.
