The Bose system in my '95 Q45 has been broken for quite some time. The rear speakers/amps have been dead since before I had the car. For a while, i was able to somewhat use the sound system by disconnecting the rear speakers so that the fuse wouldn't blow. However, one of the front speakers has since gone out as well and now I'm stuck using a bluetooth speaker shoved under the passenger seat to listen to music  . What are my options to get a working sound system while keeping the stock head unit? I've heard of people recapping the amps on each of the speakers, as well as people sending them out to rebuilt. I've also heard of people installing aftermarket speakers with an aftermarket amp. I would like to keep the original head unit at all costs since I don't want to ruin the look of the dashboard.

granted I have a 2000 with Bose but I bought a multichannel amp and wired it up using the FSM. Uses the factory radio and all. Assuming the same could be done with your gen

Someone on one of the FB groups was impressed with the work done by this place. https://sites.google.com/view/bishops-v ... o-rep/home

I think he paid something like $500 to have all of the caps replaced in his head unit, and added bluetooth functionality that is triggered by pressing the AM stereo button. I'm not sure about the best route for rebuilding the amps. Assuming this isn't a zombie site, I'd check with these guys. They've been around for a very long time. https://www.carstereohelp.com/infiniti.htm

It would be cool if Bose/Clarion still did it, but I have no idea if they do.

You can buy plug in play solutions to connect modern phones. I did that as well. Can't find the name of it from my email history but that works well. Essentially takes over the 6 disc cd funtion. Have you not done car audio enhancements in the past?

No I haven't. I do know of the device you're talking about though. I think it's branded "Grom". But that's long down the road for me since I can't even use the sound system rn since the bose amps have blown out

I've been slowly getting my original Bose system back to it's original sound quality. I originally replaced all 4 speakers with PowerBass 2 ohm units, which was an slight improvement. Next I had all 4 individual amplifiers reconditioned by Infiniti Bose Amplifiers, Speakers and Car Stereos Repaired which also helped the overall sound quality. Finally, I recently had the original head unit reconditioned by Bishop's Vintage Car Audio Repair LLC which included replacing all the capacitors, tape player motor and belts, and installing Bluetooth, and I now have a complete original system that sounds like it did when it was new. Yes, I spent far more than probably makes sense for the vehicle, but I was trying to keep it as original as possible - in retrospect I probably would have achieved equal or better sound quality by installing an aftermarket amp and speakers combined with the reconditioned head unit and would have spent less overall. My goal though, was to retain the original Bose amps which are tuned and equalized specifically for the car - I knew from experience how good the stereo system sounded when they were new and wanted to have that same quality sound in my Q45 again.

Where can you get those 2ohm speakers? I had a perfectly working Bose system when I bought my '97 until I replaced the original 2ohm 6.5" rear deck speakers with 4ohm. It was a mistake, but now I can't find new 2ohm speakers.
It does sound really nice stock. I've got a new 1500W amp for a sub, but I think it would also be great to get the rear deck speakers working again as designed with the self powered amps.

Doesn't look like PowerBass makes the 2 ohm speakers any longer, and I'm not finding much else out there that's 2 ohms.

The rear deck speakers are 6x9, not 5-1/4".

Found them: https://www.crutchfield.com/S-pdmKHdKnb ... 58QAvD_BwE

Not sure why Crutchfield says they won't fit. Yeah, you'll have to do some customizing to get the factory amps to attach to the bottom of the speakers but it's not crazy difficult.

These are what I used for the door speakers: https://www.crutchfield.com/S-ycgLTUg5U ... AMQAvD_BwE
