I can't seem to stop ripping motor mounts and so I welded up some 1 inch square bar and replaced the rubber with them. It actually doesn't feel much different, though it accelerates more and there is some loose sheet metal I didn't know about before. :)

Anyway, other than discomfort, is there any downside to this? My car shakes a lot anyways as it is 50 years old.

Thanks

If the vibration doesn't bug you I can't see any problem.
