Anyone out there have a SOLID motor mount, like made of alum? Would there be any benefits over polyurthene mounts? Any sideffects besides vibration?

Iam in the need for new motor mounts. Just weighin out my options. poly or alum/metal/whatever.

The cusco's are the most durable on the market, so durable they make the chassis rattle. If anything you may wan't to use something like sock mount's, with a bit of custom polyurethane around it to stiffin it a bit more, or just get the NISMO's..........I haven't seen any aluminum mount's.....

if this is a track car that would be ok, but i think the vibration is a little more than you think itll be if its your daily driver...

side effects: headaches if sitting idle at a stop light, cd players not working so well, and a near permanent hard on for you and any male passengers. if you like cleaning up wet spots put a chick in the car and let it idle for a bit.

Get a decent set of used mounts, clean them well and remove any residue, and then fill them with 3M windo weld. Use some wd40 sprayed on your finger to help push the windo weld in the grooves and then build the outside of the mount up with some more. Smooth it all out nice and let sit for a few days, you will have very solid mounts that will last a couple years.

Or if your dropping a hybrid in there and want it as low as possible, build yourself some custom block mounts and then use 2 or 3 layers of 1/2" thick rubber sheet. Decent affordable alternative to custom poly mount brackets.

Solids mounts will induce unnecessary stress on your block.

Semi thread jack but I though it better then making a new thread...

What engine mounts do you guys with strut tower bars use?I have heard the nismo mounts can cause the engine to sit to high for most bars (I have a greddy). Any one know if is isolated to the nismo mounts? Am I gonna just have to use oem?

I have the Nismo mounts, without the trans mount though... I actually like how my ride feels now. I guess you can say I can feel my engine, and it's power. The stiffness doesn't bother me at all, it actually feels the same to me. The engine does sit a bit higher though, but it doesn't interfere with my Megan Racing strut bar.

some have an issue with their cheapo strut bars that were made for oem or worn motor mounts. another issue people have is how to install the nismo mounts as some say to flip them for the dual head engine as they were "supposedly" made for just for the single cam engine.

do what you want because your still going to blow money on this **** anyways right? then grab or do what you want and stick with it. I myself have my plans but that always comes with the benifits

This is what Im doing, except Im going to use my own transmission mount.

But solid mounts will be too harsh.
