To answer the "drop in affair" question, the answer is "NO". The amount of work, mathematics and time required to make this happen is exponential. If you decide to take on this task, do realize it is a daunting, but not impossible task. You can probably visit JUN or Tomei websites to get an idea on where to start. This is something that has to be done one lifter at a time and has to be documented. Keeping in mind that each modified lifter, shim, valve, spring and lifter will be married to each other, no exceptions. If you really wanted a nice revving engine, just make sure all of your lifters are healthy, install a set of competent valve springs, get you nice set of mid grade cams and a competent engine management system that will allow you to rev the engine at the most efficient and beneficial revolutions. Trying to rev the CA18 like it's a Gixxer from 1000rpm to whatever is pointless and anyone dry revving one trying to reach 8500 to 9000rpm is clueless.
I had a guy attempt to install my solid lifters into a head he had ported for me and silly me at the time, thought he knew what he was doing and installed this head onto my block because I relied on his reputation and entrusted in his past efforts on other projects he had done; mainly american big blocks. Well, turned-out this fool didn't adjust any shim with no blueprinting which meant that I had valves stuck open and so for and so on. I had to do the work myself and one of our Aussie members pointed me in the direction I needed to go, but there was no write-up. So after attacking this for a couple of days, I got it done and am able to say that again, this is no cake walk.
