are solid disks really that bad on the street in traffic and driving slowly etc, i know that they are more like an on/off switch than sprung hub disks, but isi it really that bad??

i got a chance to get a Stage IV Spec Clutch and Cover, brand new from a guy locally for CHEAP, he is going SR20 and bought one late last year..

i imagine the clamping force to be quite fierce, but can it be handled on the street w/ slight slip etc..????

- later,.

Nah, There not that bad. I have ran a 3 puck unsprung, 6 puck unsprung and a 4 puck sprung. I wouldent run them on the street after what happend to mine. I stripped the spines of the disk that mates to the transmission input shaft.

i know i said i wouldnt go with a spec cause of the failures i have heard/read about, but for the price i could break in my engine with it and replace it in about 1500 or so miles when i really start to push the engine..

whoa... not good.. was that because it would vibrate rediculously pulling off slowly??

A bit too rough for everyday street use, but it can be done and know some people who use them on their everyday 240s.

you need to slip them with more precision then a sprung disk but they are streetable. My wife can drive her O.S. twin plate with unsprung disks without trouble.

so i think the ClutchMasters FX600 Twin Plate clutch kit is the next clutch i'll get... unless i can get a OS Giken Twin Plate..

AWD+6k luanches and no sympathey from me=dead clutches and drivetrain. I like the puck style disk better than a organic simply becouse it wont turn to cat hair after a beating.

well i took the stage 4 SPEC unsprung hub clutch kit from the guy last night... ~$200 without a mile of use on it. (traded a blow off valve and some cash)

it looks good, quality metals used seems to be pretty good, all bolts and fasteners etc look safe.

i'll tell you how it is on the street,

I wouldn't use a metal disk, the damage it does to the flywheel is just terrible. You could try a super single, it is put together just like a twin plate but only has one friction disk and no intermediate plate, a good step up from a replacement type.http://www.osgiken.co.jp/pro_c....html
