Solid chain tensioner?

I have net to put my hands on the motor yet but I was wondering about the KAs timing chain system. I am guessing it is has oil pressure over spring tensioners? If so do thes present a weak point for the KA? I remember FJs were always causing hate and discontent with there chain tensioners to the point where they were replacing them solid ones, basically set the lash and lock it down, no spring or oil pressure assist. I even saw one engine that had the whole lower chain assembly removed and a custom countergear set fabricated (dead f-in sexy). I see some people with SRs also having trouble so I worry. Is is a weak point on KAs and does anyone make solid mount tensioners?

No I mean tensioners without oil pressurization that you position and lock down solid.

I have yet to see it for KA's, but then again I have not looked. Should not be too hard to fabricate though. Google it and see what comes up.

They do use a spring/oil pressure tensioner. It would be nice if they made a fixed one, as the oil pressure ones can be a bit sheisty.

That full gear driven system was an LZ twincam/FJ crossover system. Some of the early FJ's had it, but later changed over to full chain.

Wouldnt be that difficult to build some fixed adjustable tensioners, but timing chains stretch througout their lifetime and you would have to adjust more often that it is worth. Id stick with the spring loaded/oil pressure tensioner. You would be surprised on just how little extra slack in the chain can cause it to wrap over on the lower gear and cause problems. The low gear tooth count on the KA does not help anything, i have no idea why nissan changed this and the rest of their timing system in 1988 for the ka when they had a solid system already implemented. It was a mistake.

edit: "solid system already implemented" as in there was no problems.
