I have sold my beloved '91 Q45t and bought an '03 Passat W8. I like my Q ships. Lovely car, though nose heavy and expensive to maintain. I couldn't do another winter in the Q without traction control. I removed most of the high performance add ons to my Q and will posting them in the classifieds.

The new ride

Interesting choice for someone who thinks the G50 is nose heavy.

Be sure to report back in a few weeks about your impressions, hopefully before it snows.

I meant that the w8 is nose heavy. I preferred the handling balance of the Q.

OK, now I can see that as the engine is mostly in front of the front axle line.

Is the w8 passat FWD or all wheel drive? shocked they didnt use the vw/audi 4.2 v8 engine in the passat.

Think they used the VW W8 which sits in front of the front axle. Bet it has 4Motion all wheel drive.

But the key is using winter tires in snow, no matter what you drive.

Please tell me thats the 6 Speed version I see it isnt the sport package. I have had Gen 1 and Gen 2 and a Friend has a Gen 3 Q45 that I basically have driven like its my own and truthfully the handling is nothing compared to that W8. Not to sound like I am bragging but I have pulled on EVO's and WRX's on the highway and held a steady 160+ in that thing. Ate new G35's and 350z's in that sleeper The W8 motor is a huge headache if you dont maintain and dont keep up with the Full Synthetic Oil Changes but it is a Super Car in disguise 180 on the Dash and it gets there pretty easy. Dont regret it once you put a Intake and a Exhaust that W8 sounds like a beast just not as big as the Q but still a beast.

Yeah, the Q45 is no snow puller!

Interesting, as I remember magazine tests of the w8 Passat being not that quick accelerating, and speed limited to 130mph.......

Maybe km?

W8 Passat is a very nice car, but too complex for me to own.
