Now that its gone, I can honestly say that thing was a night mare. I bought it at the dealership I worked at. 70k miles, one owner, clean title. I Checked consumer reviews, talked to customers in service, talked to our service advisers, and everyone said they were great cars. Within 1 year of ownership, one of the my good friends who was one of our better techs remarked that hes never seen an I30, or any Infiniti with as many problems as mine had. Besides all the maintenance that I always took care of on time, plus brakes and tires. I had to replace so many parts, catalyst, struts, ac compressor, coils, starter, axles, tie rod ends....among many many other things. This while being a college student making very little money.

This experience scared me so much about used cars I ended up buying a brand new Honda Fit. My logic was total cost of ownership over a decade+ and the Honda had the features I wanted standard. The kicker is even with the car payment the fit wont be much more expensive then the 13 year old I30. It's a little car, but its actually a lot of fun to drive, 5 speed, plenty of room inside. Plus it looks easy to work on, and parts (especially tires) look very inexpressive. Been breaking it in, all city driving, 28 mpg so far.

Anyway, thanks Nico community for all of the help over the years. I wasn't a huge poster, got most of my answers from searches, tried to contribute as much as I could. Keep those Nissan's running strong.

Here is the new ride:

Congrats on the new ride! I know a lot of people that are happy with their Honda Fits, so hopefully it treats you well.

I had a 2000 Infiniti I30 too and it was a pretty decent car, but it had some issues here and there too. It seems like i've seen a lot more issues from the Touring models than the base model ones did. There's a bad one in every bunch though, because I picked up a 99 Maxima last year and it was nothing but problems the whole time I owned it. I dumped $3,500 into it in less than 6 months and it still needed more work when I traded it in, so you never really know what you're going to get with a vehicle.

Sorry to hear about your ownership experience with that used Infiniti. I recently sat in a new Fit at the Philly Auto Show and was impressed with it. Good luck with it and enjoy.
