This experience scared me so much about used cars I ended up buying a brand new Honda Fit. My logic was total cost of ownership over a decade+ and the Honda had the features I wanted standard. The kicker is even with the car payment the fit wont be much more expensive then the 13 year old I30. It's a little car, but its actually a lot of fun to drive, 5 speed, plenty of room inside. Plus it looks easy to work on, and parts (especially tires) look very inexpressive. Been breaking it in, all city driving, 28 mpg so far.
Anyway, thanks Nico community for all of the help over the years. I wasn't a huge poster, got most of my answers from searches, tried to contribute as much as I could. Keep those Nissan's running strong.
