Well, like the title says, I sold my trusty '97 Hardbody and bought an '04 Frontier. It's a 2.4L with the manual transmission, and appears to be the most basic truck ever sold. Where most of them say "XE" on the front fender - mine says "Frontier" - it is one of the few of this era that I've seen with steel wheels - it doesn't have jump seats in the back - and the back glass is solid clear instead of sliding tinted glass. All of that said, I'm very happy with my purchase - got it for a great price, and the former owner had documented oil changes every 3K at the local dealership... his wife says he even put little marks on the oil filter and then checked afterwards to make sure they changed it. That's my kind of guy!

So on to the things I would like to do to it:

1) Replace back window with a slider. Does anyone know if it glues in, or if it's like my old truck where the whole gasket just pops into the frame?

2) Replace the wheels... I might go as big as Titan wheels with the center routed to fit the hubs, or try to find some Xterra or Pathy wheels. The truck still has the factory original tires, so I'm going to need to do something soon.

3) The parking brake bugs the crap out of me - specifically the release being near my right knee. Does anyone know if the later "push on, push off" version of the parking brake pedal will fit? My wife's G has this, and I like it much better - second only to a hand brake.

4) Has anyone found oval side marker LED turn signals that would fit in the dipped out place in the fenders that holds the "XE" or "Frontier" sticker? I think that would be a neat upgrade.

5) Does anyone know how hard it would be to add jump seats to the back? We have a little fella on the way that's due in November, and I would also like to know if it's possible to put a car seat back there.

6) Has anyone upgraded a truck with non-intermittant wipers to one with them? This is a minor issue to me, since I can just rain-x the windshield to deal with light mist, but if it's easy to do I might go ahead.

7) Fog/Driving lights - mine doesn't have them but there are a ton of them on eBay. Any recommendations?

Thanks!

Heath

Nice deal. Hope your new truck treat you like your last. I dont know about the glue or the breakes but i was supriesed that you didnt like the soild rear glass. I hate my sliding glass and i wish mine had the soild rear glass. IMO a soild glass is more theft proof than a sliding glass.

You know, you're probably right. I may tint it and see how it works out. The only time I opened my old one is when I would buy long items, like 12' sticks of shelving, because I could keep them more confined in the truck. With the setup of this dash, with the vents higher and the center console bezel extending up all the way to the dash, I would probably be afraid to haul anything with it resting there anyway... it looks like it would scratch easily.

I'm going to do something I swore I would never do again and tint the windows myself, so it'll be cheap to try it on the solid back glass and see if I like it that way.
