You shouldnt have to remove anything except the hose...tight squeeze if anything

Hopefully that was the one leaking.......i couldn't find a hole anywhere on it. When it happened, it sounded like it was pressurized. I have a fine rusty mist residue all over the place....fml. :picard:

No Luck. After driving for 20 minutes, the hissing persists. Any KAe guys care to chime in with suggestions? I am kinda stuck as I cannot see exactly where the hissing is coming from. I seems to be coming from under the intake, closest to the front of the engine. My Temp gauge stays the same and never climbs. After replacing the other hose, my idle is up around 2k!! Where it should be around 1k, as it is auto. idkwtf. :tisk:

there is quite a bit of hoses under the intake manifold..."under the front" 3 I believe...some of them you cant see. one hooks to the throttle body, one recirculates, and one for the heater core. if its hissing then there is air in your system...raise front end, remove radiator cap (when cold), and turn heat on full blast, maintain this until no more bubbles are present at radiator. if it still only hisses and no sign of coolant then Im affraid the coolant system is not your problem...If you cant tell by the sig\/ Im deffinetly a sohc guy

I like what I see there!! :naughty:

Well, the one to the throttle body and the recirculation hose looks good. no leaks from there. I am going to try to get the air out tonight and see if that helps. Is there ever an issue with the adapter plate on the block where the heater hose connects to? Just a thought. Thanks for the help martins_240sx!!

Working in the daylight makes all the difference. I jacked the car up, added antifreeze and a few minutes later, the problem reveals itself.

This is the part that the upper radiator hose connects to, then routes through the throttle body. That nipple has a freaking hole in it!!! Furthermore, I do not see that this as a replaceable part, for courtesy parts doesn't even have it listed as an OEM option. So, i dunno......JBWELD?!! :gotme

That part is not replaceable...that would be the entire intake manifold minus plenum. You can try jbweld...I love that stuff when used with sense. Myself personally have cut off the elbow portion and removed it from the coolant system all together. Filled with jbweld and crimped off....keep in mind this has to hold atleast 16psi...dont follow my path on this for I am in a different category of what im doin to my car. My final advice would to use the jbstick weld. its like playdough. ruff up the area nicely and apply making sure to press into all nooks and crannies. drain the coolant ofcourse. this is not the proper fix but may work. if not you are junkyard bound

Well, I'm officially screwed. That piece broke off as I was putting a longer hose on it.....

So, I will be hitting the salvage yard. Would I be able to use the lower intake plenum from a Sentra, Stanza or Hardbody? Not sure if there is any difference other than the orientation of the motor. I found one from a Stanza for 35 bucks......hope It will work!!

I think the stanza ecu's are great for rom tuning a SOHC. at least that's what I heard so I have a couple in my garage in case it is. I need to make more money and piece more of my turbo kit together.

Ok, wasn't able to get to the junkyard this week, but I had an idea (ghetto fix). Since the lower manifold is coming out anyways, I plugged the hole where that piece broke off with jb weld . Couldn't I just relocate the inlet for the water hose with one of these (or something similar)?

I at least need this thing to run enough to move it to the garage.

Well, it's been several weeks and the jb weld is holding up. No leaks from the adapter. Guess I dodged the bullet on this one. Overall cost: $17.00
1 1/4" water sensor adapter = $9.99+5.00 S&H, ebay
1/8" x 2" npt nipple = $2.00, home depot

Sure I didn't fix it the right way, but hey, who wants to throw money at a SOHC?

Thanks to Martins & Breadbox for the insight.
