Hey everybody, I'm relatively new on the 240SX platform, and since I don't exactly have enough money to throw down on a true japanese motor, I was wondering if the following thing was possible:

FIRST-I have a KA24E-Can I buy the heads from a KA24DE and put them onto my KA24E block, with some new pistons, rods, etc

SECOND-Does anybody know where I could find some cheap turbo kits for a 240SX DOHC, and if junkyard is the best, what kind of turbos, off which cars?

Thanks for your help.

No you cant swap KA24DE heads onto a KA24E but you can buy a complete KA24DE for under 500 bucks and put it in.

However remember the wiring harness and computor are all different. Also the powerstering lines have to be changed because they are on opposite sides on the 2 engines. It is almost as much labor as a sr swap. Ever thought about keeping the sohc. There is plenty of power to be found in that motor and it has some advantages.

How cheap is cheap? If you go below 3000 you won't have much to work with and you will have quite a few reliability issues.

I ask this cause I found a set of 240SX heads that are like 200 bucks, but I I also found a full DE but it has like 140K on it

Hey Sy, if the SOHC is good, can you tell me some mods or something that may sway me in the ways of KA24ET

I really appreciate all of your guys' input.

Check adam's site I think it is turbo240sx.ca or someting like that also http://www.realnissan.com and also try typing sohc in the search you'll get just about all the info you need.:) SOHC have always been the most supported in the all motor catagory and lately there have been more and more sohc turbo's coming up. Is it better than the DE I cannot say so but there is plenty of performance in the sohc. I do not think the difference is worth swaping motors that why I am keeping mine. Check topend performance also they have a article about turbocharging both motors.
