sohc to dohc, new tac??

im getting a ka24de put in my 89 and the guys telling me that i need a new tac, i did not know that one more cam would need a diff tac cuz arnt they the same motor? help please

you need a new gauge cluster from a '91 and up 240...the "guys" are right

You need the ODHC tach. Just because they are the same block with different heads doesnt mean that the RPM sensing device is the same or outputs the same voltages.
