SOHC to DOHC Cluster problems

I have a 89 SOHC s13 and the only cluster i have to put in is the DOHC from the 91 automatic. once everything is plugged in the cluster is dead. the light on it works when i turn the lights on but none of the gauges and the bulbs like check engine and brake work. I checked the ground wire and all but still nothing.

Anyone know what it could be?

I know about that but the whole cluster is not working.

If you followed the article and your gauges aren't working still then check to make sure that the gauges are getting power. If they are then your gauge is busted
