um I think it does

Now take the timing chain. You'll notice that it has two special links (either darker than the others or lighter, I've seen both). One of these links lines up with the timing mark on the crank sprocket, the other with the timing mark on the cam sprocket.

A pic of the cam sprocket in proper tdc position.

I need to do this soon because I believe to have broken the chain guide during drift practice... hopefully that's all. This and the repair manual I picked up from the Parts'o'rama will help greatly.

Fair warning. When the tensioner guides go on this thing you dont have long (40 to 50 miles) before the chain wears a hole in the cover (right on the water passage for the pump, pretty nasty). You can get a pretty good oem timming set from SA Gear that comes with both sprockets, the chain, the tensioner, new guides that are reinforced to keep them from becoming brittle and falling apart again, and hardware for the tensioners. It cost roughly $80-$90 but if your on a budget you can find the guides cheap on ebay. I have seen them from $20-$40, just make sure they are new.

i believe i drove more than 50 miles on broken tensioner guide...still haven't got coolant in my oil yet...found this online

""""Pull the front plug and turn the engine until it breathes on you w/ pressure through the plug hole. then put a dial gauge rod into the plug hole and when it reaches top, that is TDC

Edit: A dial gage rod is not needed, anything that will fit into the spark plug hole will do. You can be sure your on TDC by looking at the crank pulley there are lines on the pulley and a pin sticking out from the front of the engine make sure the second mark from the right on the crank pulley line up with the pin """"

My cover went before 50 miles. But I was 17 and dawged the s*** out of my car. Lesson learned. Check your cover though when you have it off. Don't want to be taking it off again.
